I was so torn on which one to pick but I just loved Spader's character. Probably my favorite TV character ever. The on screen duo of Crane and Shore was just fantastic.
It's been 22 hours since Demosthenes picked, so we are past Karloski into ASU55RR 's turn and a few hours away from Matrim55 's. Looks like it. It's pretty predictable that it happens around round 6 or 7.
I've never seen single a episode of Dr. Who. But nobody told me Graham Chapman was in it. Had I known that . . . .
I will get caught up on character descriptions someday, in the meantime, #6: Daria Morgendorffer Daria and Beavis and Butthead Matrim55, next you are.
"I'm not much for public speaking, or much for speaking, or come to think of it, much for the public. And I'm not very good at lying. So let me just say that, in my experience, high school sucks. If I could do it all over again, I'd have started advanced placement classes in preschool so I could go from 8th grade straight to college. However, given the unalterable fact that high school sucks, I'd like to add that if you're lucky enough to have a good friend and a family that cares, then it doesn't have to suck quite as much. Otherwise, my advice is stand firm for what you believe in, until and unless logic and experience prove you wrong. Remember, when the emperor looks naked, the emperor is naked. The truth and the lie are not "sort of" the same thing. And there's no aspect, no facet, no moment in life that can't be improved with pizza. Thank you."
Besides being clever and riotously funny, Daria was also one of the realest characters ever created in animation. The episode where she obsesses about the memory of a supposed fight her parents had when she was a small child illustrates this well (and just happens to be one of my favorites of the series).
Round 6 pick... Butchie The Wire Butchie's one of those old dogs who's blind as a bat, but sees more than you or I ever will. He knows the game inside and out, knows all the players, and for years navigates it perfectly. He keeps a low enough profile that he's rarely in any danger while working from his West Baltimore Bar, despite the fact that he's actually the bank for the city's most notorious vigilante/Robin Hood figure/antihero. When the game changes, Butchie is one of the victims. But he dies hard, and keeps his mouth shut. Loyal til the very end. Ombak you're up
My next selection: Nathaniel Fisher - Six Feet Under Nathaniel Fisher died in the first episode of Six Feet Under but that did not stop him from becoming a key character in what I consider the best TV show ever made. Nathaniel would appear in flashbacks and most often as giving his wife and kids talks when they were troubled. If you go back and watch every scene Nathaniel was in during this show, you would probably know everything you need to know about life. Richard Jenkins is a fantastic actor and this may be his best work.
Tom Zarek from Battlestar Galactica Terrorist revolutionary. Prisoner. Firebrand. Black marketeer. Senator. Assassin. Campaign adviser. Vice President. President. Creator of death squads. Formenter of rebellion. Leader of failed coup d'etat. It would almost be a shame if his biography didn't end with "executed by firing squad". But it does.
Apologies for my recent hurries but I had something come up and made last minute travel plans. I'm not out of the draft mind you, my sixth pick is: House And I do plan on picking my seventh this weekend if I can (earlier if things pick up again) but for now we'll be without a summary again.
With my sixth pick, I select Ron Swanson from "Parks and Recreation." What you may have heard him say was he wanted a lot of bacon and eggs. But what he really said was give him all of your bacon and eggs. Something he has: an amazing Pyramid of Greatness. Something he lacks: the ability to resist women named Tammy: I love him for being a libertarian who believes the department for which he works should not exist. And who despises people but does a lot of good regardless. One of the great re-imaginings of a television character ever is when the Parks and Rec folks shifted Ron from the nemesis of committed do-gooder and fervent believer in government Leslie Knope into a relationship of mutual respect. It really has made the vibe of the show something wonderful to behold. Demosthenes

Okay. Final pick -- my childhood crush: Roy Hinkley, PhD, referred to as The Professor from Gilligan's Island
Hmm, iconic TV character. Childhood crush. Made me think of this cameo of Florence Henderson on Whose Line is it Anyway...
I've often thought that one way to combat this inevitable slowdown would be to just open the final round and anybody can pick whenever they show up. Sort of rewards the people who check this thread regularly. And it's not like anyone is really going to lose their choice, here in the 7th round, to someone else....
Ok. Until we get more votes for the free-for-all last round, there is an hour left for Karloski (as of the time of this post) and then ASU55RR will be up.
Sorry bout that. So far I've picked characters who tend to get into situations\trouble through their own actions and their outgoing\eccentric\selfish personalities. For my final pick, I'm going for someone who seems to be a magnet for trouble. He could probably be classed as a normal guy with an adventurous nature, but a dull life was never on the cards for.. Howard Moon The Mighty Boosh @ASU55RR is up.
