Ok. But how do players like Elmander (Sweden), Riera (Spain) and Baros (Czech Rep.) count as foreigners if they come from countries that are part of the European Union?

Thanks for the information. I'm having a little trouble picturing Adu as a center back or as a ball-holding center forward, however. Why don't we fill those two positions with Turkish players and squeeze Adu in somewhere more suitable?

I thought Turkey wasn't/isn't a full member of the EU? Their application has not been fully approved? correct me please if I'm mistaken.

Right, but they are part of UEFA. So I'm not exactly sure about what counts as a "foreigner" in their league.

From a quick search online and not much research at that, it seems that "foreign" is meant in its simplest way: any non-turkish person. Rules put in place by the turkish federation, so i'm assuming it has to do with requiring teams to have a certain number of turkish players in the squad every time and thus improve the national team.

I don't think coming from an EU member state has anything to do with it.

No it's not. Watch American Basketball, Baseball, and Football and it's played fast and at an extremely high level.

It does in some nations that subscribe to the various trade/labor treaties but it doesn't look like Turkey is on board there.

I think all they have is 5 non-Turkish nationals on the field at once but they will also assimilate some foreign players when asked.

Shouldn't it be "running like turkeys with their heads cut off"?

    Adu to Gala?

Did I just woke up on the wrong side of the universe?

FWIW, in all my travels, I always said that if Istanbul were 50% less polluted it would be the greatest city on earth. A move to Gala would be a dream.

Is Adu training with the first team or just jogging around the pitch?

Do you want him to post a twitpic of himself while he is actually participating in a drill or scrimmage? What would constitute enough "confirmation" to satisfy you?

Well, we've seen pics of Berry and Anibaba participating in scrimmages with Atletico Madrid on their current training stint there -- here they are marking Falcao:

Then there was the report of the Turkish journalist adamantly stating that Adu would only be working on his fitness at Galatasaray and would not be training with the team.

So no, I would say that we still don't have confirmation.
