Does anybody go to Gdansk for football games 2012? I'm wondering does any of you are travelling to Poland- Gdansk on Euro 2012?
I will be in Ukraine for 3 weeks during Euro 2012. I travel to Ukraine, and in particular Kiev often so I know a lot about the place. You will hear a lot of nonsense in the press about Ukraine about what to expect. The perception is that it is a grey dull ex soviet backwater. The truth is that it is newly Independent country at the beginning of its tourist industry. Geographically it sits at the centre of Europe and in years to come will be the new Prague or its like. There is no doubt in my mind that this will become one of the party capitals of the world. I have created a website with a lot of information about Kiev and the Euro 2012 tournament. Its a non-commercial site so I am not advertising but if you want to take a look go to www.kiev4tourists.com Feel free to ask me questions or contact me and I will try my best to help. Cheers Mark
Travel tip for all Germans: You can now buy tickets for the train from Lviv to Kharkiv (for the game against Holland). www.uz.gov.ua Train number: 112Л Departure from Lviv, 12th July (17:15) Arrival in Kharkiv, 13th July (11:10). So this is really perfect for all Germans! You arrive in Kharkiv at 11:10 and can spend the day to see some sights in the city, then the game at 21:45. As you can see this is an overnight-train. Unfortunately, the schedule for the high-speed trains is not up on the website yet. So duration in this alternative is about 17 hrs. Sure, it can seem much, but it is very cheap, 20 €. And make sure you take the Kupe-seats. Perect overnight alternative instead of hotel. Good luck and enjoy Ukraine!
I am going to Holland v Portugal (ok I'm going to a tractor museum really) in Kharkiv but need to be back in Kiev the following day. Looking at the trains that can be booked, there is nothing deparing Kharkiv until the following evening. Does this mean all other trains have already been booked, can't be booked in advance or I'm going to have to steal a tractor? Thanks !!!
hahaha, tractor museum.... You really gave me a laugh ! I'm trying to help people with transportation quesitons in the neighbour thread "Questions on Ukraine". But I can give you the answer here. Tickets for highspeed trains aren't avaliable yet! They will be avaliable in late May! It will most definitely be extra trains after the game, departure at night and arrival in early morning.... Otherwise it will guaranteed be highspeed trains early in the morning that will arrive in Kiev about 12:00. As plan B you can find some buss.... So don't worry... Just wait until mid/late May for updates on the railway-tickets-website.
Can anyone help with the answer to the following: What hours are bars open until (or is there not set time) What is the dress code for nightlife in Kiev? Thanks!
As far as I can tell there is no actual restrictions on when bars close. Often in Ukraine there are rules and they simply aren't followed, like open containers. Dress well.
Hey All I've been trying to comb through threads but can't find anything - what is the air situation like between Warsaw and Kiev? I'm trying to make a quick turnaround to leaving from Warsaw the 18th, catch the France/Sweden game in Kiev the 19th and then right back to Warsaw for the first quarterfinal. Does anyone know if new flights are going to be added soon? I keep hearing of deals with Ryanair and other foreign airlines but all I can buy right now is a $500 RT frm Aerosvit! Any help would be much appreciated! -Sean
Sorry Sean, I try not to fly in or out of Ukraine unless I have to due to the expense. I know there is an overnight train that I've taken if you are interested.
Can I buy train tickets from Krakow to Lviv? And how soon would there be a train available back to Krakow following Germany v Portugal game? Anyone that can help I would really appreciate it.
Best bet between Krakow and Lviv would actually be a bus. Maybe things have changed, in this specific line but Ukraine and Poland use different rail lines which makes it a very long wait at the border.
Oh Ok. I thought they were going to have a train from Krakow to Lviv direct. Anywhere online I could look at those bus trips? Thanks alot Real Corona for your help.
They may have a train, but unless they have built an entirely new track to connect the cities, they will need to change the train wheels. For lack of a more technical term. We are talking 10 hours versus ~6 Another way to do it is train to Przemysl and bus it.
Ya I see what your talking about, I must of miss-read something online thinking trains would be direct.
Here is a site that offers tickets for trains between Poland and Ukraine, inclusively Krakow - Lviv. http://beta.booking.polrail.com/index.php?main_page=page_5 I don't know, though, if the offerings on the site are for real! If there really will be trains like that...... Seems way to good. ... So make sure to do some research!!!
Did anyone book their rooms through aa-euro2012.com? It was the official accomodations link direct from euro2012.com
what exactly is to far and to expensive.... If you give it some time you can find great solutions, both in matter of accommodation and transportation.... Of course, if you are lazy and hope to find great prices by checking hotels.com you won't find anything.... But it's a common knowledge, that if you want something, you have to fight for it.... If you want to go to the EURO's, you have to look for great alternatives.... So don't blame the EURO's just bcz u are lazy.
