The US team continues it's obscure Eastern European location tour following up Krasnodar and Sarajevo with Kharkiv, Ukraine.
Anyone going to this by chance? I'm planning on it. I'll be in the Ukraine following a trip to Sochi for the Olympics.
I'm considering it, but not excited about the current political situation. If I went I'd want to spend several days in Kiev and then just go to Kharkov for the match, but with Kiev not looking like the coolest place to visit at the moment, I'm very much on the fence. Anyone have any idea about tickets?
The USSF told me there's no visiting fan section or tickets available through them. I've been checking the FFU site, but haven't seen any news about ticket sales. I figure the game won't sell out anyway. I'll be spending the weekend before in Kiev. Based on reports I've seen, it's actually very peaceful outside of the few central blocks where the protesters are. Dynamo Kiev hosts Shaktar on Sun March 2nd.
If you really can't get tickets I can call my contacts in Kharkiv and see what the status is. I doubt it will sell out though. Sweden had tickets day of.
Any more info about the game in Cyprus? I may fly over from Israel for the match? Ticket info? Team hotel? Roster? Anything, anything?
I believe there was tentative confirmation that the game was going to be at 2eastern US time and that it would be in a stadium in Larnaca, but I don't remember which one. Considering the game is a neutral venue, I'm sure tickets would be no problem.
US Soccer announced the roster earlier today, check it out: http://www.ussoccer.com/teams/us-men/latest-roster/140305-ukr-friendly.aspx
Glad we moved the game away from dangerous Ukraine.. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/feb/28/cyprus-postpone-matches-bomb-damages-referee-car
This game is still in jeopardy sadly. If Russian planes are blowing the shit out of the country, I do wonder if the Ukraine federation is going to want to be playing a game.
