Just got my flight, I get into Baltimore Saturday and leave Sunday after the game. I will be staying with friends Saturday. See you at the game.
As many of you know. I've spent time in DC and can help with any necessary pointers. Expect a Dynamo keg in the parking lot for a tailgate.
if you're hungry when you get into BWI, may I suggest pointing the GPS in your rental car to Ann's Dari-Creme. Deep-fried footlong hotdogs. The stand's been there for 60 years. Its only a few miles from BWI and its worth the detour. ( http://www.hollyeats.com/AnnsDariCreme.htm )
As a friendly ambassador looking forward to a historic match on Sunday: - Visiting fans don't get put in the upper deck anymore, it is closed as per our new lease - they are not maintaining the upstairs bathrooms and concession stands. - Closest bars are 8th street SE (Eastern Market by metro) or H St. NE (by car or long walk). 8th street is more military/tourist, H St. is more colorful/dive-y/hipster-y. - Lots open for tailgate 4 hours prior to kickoff, so noon. Lot 8 is the tailgate lot. The only rules are don't be a freakin idiot. - Pretty sure that livingsocial deal sold out the day it was announced. If you're taking metro - be warned - it SUCKS on the weekends. There is often track work and the trains are 30 min apart at best. Leave yourself plenty of time and check wmata.com for track work. That said, it is a straight shot from Arlington on the orange line (which I suppose is appropriate), and yes, hotels are a bit cheaper out there. Slightly.
Raccoon repellent and Tetanus shots are recommended. Bring some Texas beer and have a good time everyone.
Everyone going to Washington: ===== Saturday night meet up, eat up, drink up - 6pm -> 8pm? Hill Country Barbecue 410 Seventh Street NW Washington DC 2004 (202)556-2050 Go to the Archives Metro Stop. ==== Sunday evening after the game: Molly Malone's - A Capitol Hill Saloon 713 8th Street Southeast Washington, DC 20003 (202)547-1222 two blocks south of Eastern Market Metro Stop which is two stops from Armory/RFK metro stop. Molly Malone's will put the game up for us. ----------------- If you are going and have questions PM me.
I just talked to the DC stadium ops people. Dynamo fans should tailgate in Lot 3 which is near the Armory Metro stop on the west side of the stadium. That lot opens at Noon. We'll be grouping up to go into the stadium some time between 3:15 and 3:30. I was also told that Dynamo fans wearing orange will be allowed to stand in section 318 with the rest of us even if you don't have a ticket for that specific section. I repeat, I was told that. Don't count on it.
I want to wish all of y'all safe travels, don't forget to represent us, and bring us back a victory to Houston so we can all travel for the final. Dale Dynamo, Queremos La Copa!
a shout out to all the traveling supporters...have a great and safe time people.... we will be welcomeing home the Eastern Conference Champs and the four time Finalist Houston Dynamo after Sunday..........hope you all have a blast and stay safe comeonyousupporterscomeonyoudynamobeatdc!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that never happened. Btw, I don't think its been mentioned in this thread yet but Keeper Notes put together a Facebook page for DC travelers. I just let Jen know about this thread and the meetup plans so I'd imagine she'll publish them on that page soon. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dynamo-fans-going-to-DC/443811065679472
