The only positive is it prevents BVB from getting bargains again and turning them into world beaters. Jupp will be around for what, another 6 months, 18 months top.
Well...in general I agree looking at the numbers but the more I think about it...not necessarily... First, I believe it is most important for our Bayern München officials not to miss out on Germany's next "big talent". It's a matter of prestige and pride so at the very least we show our earnest interest in the player and keep our options open. Second, when you think about our current personnel do we really have a creative central midfielder who could replace Bastian Schweinsteiger in an important Uefa Champions League match? In my humble opinion Jupp Heynckes would most definitely choose Toni Kroos as his central midfielder because Gustavo and Martínez side by side is still too defensive. However that would lead towards problems in our offensive three men row behind the CF. Sadly Gustavo, Can and Martínez are basically competing for one slot while Kroos is Schweinsteigers real replacement for the creative part of the CM. The real issue would be whether Rode can actually compete for playing time in the shadow of Bastian Schweinsteiger? Our next coach would be a decisive factor in that regard.
I hope we're not turning into another manchester city/chelsea, buying players we wont give minutes to and burying our own.
I'm glad they've finally woken up and done the obvious but I think it's not a good move for Rode personally. If he moves he needs to move to a club where he can get regular playing time. Unless there are major moves at Bayern he'll be 4th choice. I would hate for a player with his talents to start stagnating.
There's no point in this unless it is to increase his price so Dortmund doesn't get him. Getting a player so Dortmund doesn't when we have no need for him isn't an intelligent argument to make.
Lets just wait and see if this is really happening. I already thought Kirchoff was a bad buy because we don't need him, I hope we don't turn into another chelsea.
Neither is Rode the next big talent nor a creative midfielder that could replace/rival Kroos or Schweini as he is technically limited. His competition would be Gustavo and Martinez and no way he can get past them
Seriously, I didn't see that many games of Rode over 90 minutes but he didn't seem technically limited, did he?
I did not say that he is some kind of Ramelow but I can't see that he is even slightly better in this area than Kroos or Schweinsteiger. Since he is more of a competition to Martinez anyway (position wise) he isn't even getting close there to the spanish technical education Martinez has
But Rode is the "next big talent" in german football and it's no coincidence that the kicker rated him as 2nd best CM/DM this season in their ranking (only beaten by Schweinsteiger but ahead of Schwegler, Gündogan, L. Bender and so on) and he is certainly not technically limited, lol. ya because being spanish means noone else can be technicaly superior... Rode was an AM/winger in his younger days and is no typical DM/CM. That's why he has a lot of successful dribblings for a CM (a lot more than Schweinsteiger or Martinez) while playing more key passes in average than any other Bundesliga CM including Gündogan, Schweinsteiger and so on, not to mention that only five other BL-midfielders played more passes than him in average. You are just underestimating Rode and his skill set in this regard. I dare to say that he is clearly superior in going forward compared to Martinez while being less of a defensive force though his defensive stats are also excellent. So Rode is in fact closer to Schweinsteiger than being another Martinez or Gustavo type of player and everyone who watched some games of Frankfurt this season knows this. There is some similarity to Vidal if you wanna compare Rode to a different player.
You are wrong there. Heynckes was known throughout his career to be someone who puts a lot of trust in young players. One of the greatest german players (Matthäus) was developed by him and it's no coincidence that other young players like Vidal, L. Bender, Kroos or recently Alaba made such huge steps under him. Heynckes is certainly not a coach who just throws in young players for the sake of it like LvG tends to do sometimes but give Heynckes a promising player and he will utilise him. It was also Heynckes who told Hoeneß and co. that he can turn Badstuber into a great CB while many were doubting him after his last season under LvG. Also most weren't sure about Boateng when we signed him while Heynckes was once again the one pushing for him. So I think some people take the work of Heynckes for granted and forget the development of players like Alaba, Badstuber, Boateng, Kroos etc.
I already knew that reading comprehension is not your strength. No need to prove it any further. Rest of your gibberish may get an answer if I find the time to
You were throwing stereotypes around ("spanish technical education") as if that makes someone like Martinez by definition stronger in that area than a player you obviously don't know anything about. Doesn't mean that Martinez doesn't have a good technique but that's certainly not simply down to him being spanish and it most certainly doesn't make him perfect in that regard. Rode could be a proper backup for Schweinsteiger, all the others simply aren't those types of players.
Rode plays a different position, of course he's a good player but are we sure that we'd need him? Anyway it'll be for next season while me miss a CB in this season.......
Well I get where you're coming from but from my perspective that's not quite what happens at the moment. Heynckes at Bayern München is simply a different coach than Heynckes at BMG 25 years ago or even at Leverkusen. A club that depends on developing young talent. It's two completely different pairs of shoes and consequently Heynckes acts differently. What Jérome Boateng, Toni Kroos, Holger Badstuber and even David Alaba have all in common is that they played at least 1 if not 4 seasons of professional football before Heynckes took over Bayern München. David Alaba wasn't given a single minute as left back in the first months even though Rafinha + Lahm looked poor from the very beginning. He was always the 12th-15th man as an offensive substitute until injuries made him the only option! I agree however that Jupp Heynckes has very good people skills to motivate young players who already developed into professional football players and he probably even has the skills to help a youth player adapt into the first team. However until now he chose not to. He didn't give any youth player the trust for even a single minute of Bundesliga football. Should I trust a coach like that? I think that's a valid question a player like Goretzka and even Can should ask themselves.
No he really doesn't. He is again on the verge of bringing in a young player like Can, not to mention young players like Weiser, Höjbjerg, Wein and so on are brought closer to the pros but you just can't expect that there will be 1-2 18/19 year olds who break through. You are rewriting history. Alaba got minutes as CM from the start (it was Heynckes who wanted Alaba back from his loan afterall) and Rafinha/Lahm certainly didn't look poor. We played a great 1st half of the season and Rafinha had not problem with opponents like ManCity and so on. Those problems came only in the 2nd half of the season and then Alaba got his spot. It's like complaining that Badstuber was used as LB for a full season before LvG moved him to his real position as CB. Can would probably have minutes in the BL without his long injury, not to mention that he did play in two cup games for us over 90 minutes and who besides Can should have gotten minutes? There was and is simply no other talent ready for BL football yet. And just to be exact, Heynckes gave Müller actually minutes in the BL before LvG did. I think some people forget that Heynckes also wanted Müller and Badstuber at Leverkusen when he left Bayern and took over Leverkusen...
Rode? No thanks. How bout giving Luiz Gustavo or Emre Can a little more playing time Herr Sammer? I think Rode would end up as a kind of Schlaudraff-Transfer...sitting on the bench.
We need to understand how FC Bayern Munchen transfers work. When we make a transfer there can be three reasons for it: 1) There is a need for the player in that position in the squad 2)He is too good to pass up, probably plays in the bundesliga and we need to snap him up before he strengthens the opposition. 3)Direct weaking of a rival In this case it's clearly 2). Like it or not, we have seen Bayern act this way numerous times in the past, so it's really no surprise we're after Rode. Like Hendrik said we don't want the BVBs and Leverkusens to buy him on the cheap and turn him into the next superstar
This signing is ridiculously pointless. There is Gustavo and Martinez that play there, and Can potentially for his 5-6 games/season. There's no reason we add another DM. He may play CM but I'm not sure how well his playmaking abilities will hold up, along with spraying the ball (vision and accuracy). If they are buying him as Piggy's back-up maybe they see something I do not. However if this is for a position where there's 2 better players and a younger that can succeed there, I'm not for it.
