    It's certainly a "Hammer" for Kirchhoff :)

you already have your first three CBs in Dante, Badstuber and Boateng. The first in his prime, the latter two still very young and that's why expecting or counting on a big transfer for CB is a waste of time. The only thing to expect there was a) either a veteran that agrees to ride the bench or b) a young talented CB that wants to take on the challenge vs the 3 CB "starters" and that is what've got now: a talented but raw CB player that gets the 4th spot for the beginning with chances to improve his status

Good move, I think. I'm not confident in van Buyten's durability anymore. He's been sick or injured a lot in the last year and we need to replace him. I had been wondering about Kjaer but Kjaer seems to be struggling to develop on the promise of his form at the World Cup. Kirchoff has that same unrealized potential and is worth a shot IMO.

As far as us having 3 solid CBs, I'm concerned that Badstuber will take a while to come back from his injury/surgery. If he rushes it he may re-injure or get a secondary injury and we will need someone to take some of that pressure off of Holger so he can concentrate on recovery.

Badstuber's injury and you never know if not something is happening in training camp are most likely the reasons why there is still the possibility for a winter transfer. Regardless of that it is a good move because salary wise a player like this never hurts Bayern and transfer fee wise the same can be said as in summer the fee costs are negligible and even in winter won't get past 1-2 Mio €. Player also has enough upside to justify the roster spot assigned to him. Though it is up to him to make something out of it, but even if he won't Bayern can still sell him and even turn it into a modest profit. Clearly win-win for Bayern

Kirchhoff's a good buy, he's young and talented and will likely prove an upgrade over Buyten.

Hope it doesn't mess with Wein's development too much, but he should probably get a loan in the next few seasons anyway. And if he's good enough, it won't matter who is ahead of him in the pecking order.

I can agree but did u heard the words of our management? NO NEW PLAYERS IN JANUARY, so the injury of Bads, the suspensions of Boa and Rib and the 2 yellow cards of Dante and we fans count zero.....

The talk of yesterday by the management has usually no relevance today or tomorrow. Hoeness would even openly if it to the best of the club. As soon as Mainz calls because they found a backup or replacement for Kirchhoff the thing will be on

Kirchhoff ist kein Thema, he'll be with us only next summer while we'd need a CB now, but if Uli+Kalle+Sammer say NO NEW PLAYERS I must believe that, we are a stupid team sometimes, it was normally to bring on a new CB after Bads' injury but not for us, typical......

True it can, but he's young and has the backing of the club because he's a youth product.

Doesn't matter in case his knee doesn't hold up anymore which is speculative of course.

However I don't see Kirchhoff's chances as bad as you whether Badstuber fully recovers or not because they're not competing for the same place in the squad anyway.

Isn't Kirchhoff a CB? He's competing with Bads, Dante and Boateng. Unless this kid is some mega talented center back he ain't getting games.

It's Dante vs Badstuber and Boateng vs Kirchhoff in my book but hey that could be because Heynckes never played with two right or left footed CB's the entire season...

It always does. Of course players differ, but knowing you have a shot versus "maybe i got no shot here" is a big determinant dont you think?

Bild claims that we are interested in Frankfurt's Sebastian Rode as Sammer wants to bring in more German players.

Hope not, wouldn't be best for his development.

There seems to be a clear shift in our transfer policy since Sammer took over. Notably different from Nerlinger who scouted internationally big times.

Weiser, Kirchhoff and now Rode? All highly talented players but will we be able to develop them to top level? What about Bochums Goretzka who also plays CM and was supposedly our #1 youth target?

Most importantly why sign all these young players when Heynckes doesn't use them anyway? He's no van Gaal in that regard who was fearless to bench veteran players if he thought a young gun would make it big.

what an useless transfer that would be. He won't even get to play. We should just buy Goretzka and Heynckes should give Can the minutes that Tymo was playing.
