Agree with CW. Don't see us making any more moves, but I'm content with how the summer went.

We are set on defense and he is not a tremendous upgrade imo anyhow. He is not coming here ... plus, from Captain to not wanted sounds just like trying to fill a space for a headline.

Same happened to MvB but he was on his way down as far as his career went...

Let's evaluate it at the end of the season ;) It's like rating a draft before they even stepped onto the field.

I´d love him here and replacing Holger. But that won´t happen I guess ;)

I´d also like to see Höwe try his luck abroad at a bigger club. Maybe Inter? Aren´t they sorting out all their old fellas?

Yes lets sign more unnecessary players and waste a bunch of million euros for absolutely no reason. Brilliant.

Ahm...yeah, right. In my personal view, Höwedes is a better CB then Badstuber, yes. He´s quicker, and more comfortable in one on one situations. Im just not sold on Badstuber after all.

How many situations in the last season was he found out. He is not good one on one but he rarely costs us like the other defensive partners.

There is a reason why Holger starts for germany as a CB while Benny cant even get in.

Can't imagine why any FC Bayern fan would spread such an opinion after Badstuber's last season. He was more than just solid and it is obvious to me that he's steadily maturing into an international top defender whereas Höwedes doesn't even play CB at club level anymore. That's not just because they have no good RB at Schalke, he isn't that much better than Papadopolous and Matip to make the change. But the grass is always greener elsewhere, I understand that much. On top of that it is a rumor that Badstuber is slow, it is rather a myth that came into being after we lost 2:3 at Manchester'United. So please put your favorite CB on the FB position and let him make a race against Nani. Please tell me afterwards if he won...I didn't think so.

I imagine it is because aggressive defenders like Hummels are fancier and more popular than CB's like Badstuber who rather than search the direct tackle disarm dangerous situations through smart position play and the blocking of the opposing player. Look at Italy vs. Germany for an example, put Badstuber at Hummel's place before the 1:0 happened. Holger wouldn't have searched the direct tackle, instead he would have reacted to the Italians actions and simply blocked him to a corner kick.

Sure it isn't fancy but effective. Just how I like my CB's.

If anyone is a defensive liability based on last season, Boateng is that player. Lahm has been "off" as well, Badstuber had a better season than all our defenders as well as Neuer. Don't know if he will repeat it.

Actually its better to get the guy who lost his place to Matip, Metzelder and Papadopoulous.

Obviously LvG, Juup and Loew havent got reason for playing a defender who sucks that much

I believe Joel Matip is the player who's maturing into an international top defender. He reads the game so well. I havent watched him more than 10 games but he's impressed me every time. He will turn 21 in 2 weeks and he has already achieved so much in his career. I mean semis of the champions league, quarter finals of the Europa League, winner of DFB Pokal and 2nd and 3rd place in the Bundesliga. Over 120 games in the last 3 seasons and he hasnt turned 21 yet. He is the one top teams should be looking at.

I respect your opinion and I know that many Bayern Fans like Bastubers game, me personally doesn´t. Speaking of the Italy game: If Helga would have been that much better in the duell against Cassano, why was he so damn out of the game against Balotelli at the 0-1 scene? His task was to cover up Balotelli in the middle and he watches the ball coming in high and what is he doing? Watching the ball coming in and giving Balotteli all the time he need for his header not even trying to jump up and clear the ball via. head. Not much of an "international class defender" effort IMO. But maybe that´s just my personal view. ;)

The cluster ******** was created by Boateng who was caught way out of position on the right. It was only one of the 100 times he did that. Hummels had to come over to cover for his ass. Badstuber had to slide over to cover for Hummel leaving his spot. If a competent RB had been there the ball would have simply gone out for a corner kick ;)

Mistake happen when so many guys have to slide over. Boateng being miles away from the right side line caused huge problems all game long. He should have been taken off 10 minutes into the game but Löw is a stubborn son of a gun ...

He was more than 10 feet away from his spot, too high up the pitch and too far in.

U surely can´t exclude Boateng from the 0-1 but blaming it all on him in a game which didn´t contain a Right Midfield Spot thanks to brilliant tactics is simply wrong IMO. Boateng was there to cover the right side all alone, so I guess it wasn´t all that easy. But of course, he´s on part to blame on the 0-1.

totally we played without RW both Kroos and Ozil were inside so when Pirlo passed to Chielini he was all alone there so Boateng went on him. Hummels was left 1 on 1 with Cassano who passed so easily around him. If you ask me Boateng is the least to blame on that goal

What part of the right side was he covering when he was stepping on Hummels' feet??? Makes no sense. Boateng being absolute sh!t in that game is not debatable. Also not debatable is Löw ********ing it up tactically ...

All it shows is that assigning blame the way you were trying to do is never possible because most of the time it is a trickle down effect of mistakes that occurred somewhwere else on the pitch.

Fact is that Boateng, Hummels, and Badstuber did not look good. However, it started with Boateng or for that matter with Löw. And where please is it written that a player can not react on his own to what is happening on the field and adjust his positioning to adapt to what the opponent is doing? It usually helps to have a captain on the field who can reorganize a team. Lahm is not that ;)
