Not trying to hate, but Carillo's done absolutely nothing since playing in first division. It's surprising how even these clubs are supposedly buying the hype. At least Manco and Ismodes impressed in some games, etc.

SS Lazio was fined less than $12,000 for racist chants by their fans last weekend.

I doubt Lisboa are buying Carrillo expecting him to make an immediate impact on the field, they see he has potential and could gain 3x what they paid for if he breaks out in Portugal within the next 3 years. I wouldn't compare him to Farfan, maybe Guerrero? Nobody knew about Guerrero until he was already in la Bundesliga.

so they are buying him to be in the reserves?

Guerrero left when he was 18

Carrillo is turning 20 this year

I dunno seems like a waste to go to a teams reserves at the age of 20, instead of playing first team football and the possibility of CL

hoping he breaks out this year for Lisboa to get 1st team action, to be fair every new siging specially if its relatevely young has to go through the same process, playing in reserves.

I'm sure Lisboa's scouts have done their homework and they know he's not a starter in Alianza but they liked what they saw.. $2 million is relatively cheap for a young prospect so I'm sure they're not gonna throw him in the starting lineup and I wouldn't be surprised if they actually loan him out to a weaker team so that he can get more minutes and acclimated to the Portuguese league. I agree that he's leaving Peru too early but in this era of futbol money talks.

Carrillo should go to Groningen. He'll get his minutes from the start and plays in a league that is in depth stronger than the league in Portugal. Porto and Benfica re stronger PSV/Ajax/Twente, that's true. He'll play more matches at a higher level and if he is good enough he'll get an opportunity to leave for a bigger team in Europe. If not, he wouldn't have made it at Sporting either.

Advantage of Sporting above Groningen is the city, climate, language and the unrealistic hope of playing a lot for a better team in the CL.

lets just say the odds are against him

Peruvian trail player Victor played 90 minutes with Young PSV against Young NAC. Young PSV won with 3-0. He didn't score and have no idea how he played.
