I remember when Navarro was the coach of AL and benched Farfan, Aguirre was the first one that made his debut in first div. and was even a starter. Farfan didn't even play until Navarro left as coach of AL.

might have debuted first but Farfan clearly overtook him in the pecking order pretty quickly

Jefferson left for PSV as the undoubted starter of Alianza Lima and Aguirre was on the bench by that point as i recall anyway

in the youth teams it was all about Farfan and Guerrero and Zorrito was an afterthought

Our inability to produce good players is pretty notorious.

Vargas is the only one in the past 20 years

Vargas is your marquee product but you have produced a few more good players

Rengifo and Raul Fernandez are two that might not be world beaters but can at least play at Libertadores and qualifiers level

    Ruidiaz looks ok aswell

in a keeper that is to be expected

Butron went trough a similar phase in his last days at SC before he went to Sullana I think he lost his starting spot to Oscar Ferro or possibly even Miguelon Miranda

he was around 24 when that happened(2001/2002)

but butron wasnt that "great" like fernandez was back in 2008-09 according to peruvian media(cmd). butron improved as a player at sullana, matured a little in alianza, and became a good goalie at san martin. fernandez has had great chances, but he lacks something butron does: discipline.

nah he wasnt great but he was seen as the future, particularly as everyone saw him as Balerio's understudy

to me he became really good at Sullana and just carried on from there

He's been relegated as a third-string keeper after Burnley acquired some guy during last winter's transfer market.

The problem is there are a lot of good keepers and not enough good teams for them in Peru. Given how Bolo went down, Oviedo could have very well brought in Penny and he could've had international exposure again. Although the Argentinian did well, I feel sorry for Penny, I liked his nimbleness. :(

hopefully Aurich manages to lock in a spot for an international cup next year, the team has a good base but needs better players and they are sure making the league more interesting this year.

that will surely be the case, Juanete has a very good team for national and international standards which shall see them playing continental football or at least the Sudamericana

[hoping AL, U and USMP make it to the Libertadores]
