They won't pick Wondo if he doesn't start scoring more goals but I think he has exhausted his chances with the national team....
I have mixed feelings about Wondo in the USMNT. Every time he goes he is not the same player when he comes back. Aside from the fact that he hasn't played well in the league, he is 30 years old and has 9 caps with no goals. I hope for Wondo that he is given another chance but sooner or later, his chances will dwindle.
Roger Milla scored in WC 94, against Russia in a game where Oleg Selenko got 5 goals... two WC records in one game... I was there!
Wondo is a good club player but not for the national team. I mean there are club players and national team players and not all good club players can be national teamers. There isn't anything wrong with that. Its just that some players can't handle the national team duty and its like that all over the world. Its not too hard a concept to understand. If a forward in any team is given chances and if he doesn't score, then he will not receive too many more other opportunities.
People are just being homers. MLS is nothing like the international level, even in CONCACAF. In MLS you can have off days like Wondo has had in this season and he'll still start next game. Do that as a newcomer for the national team and you have ruined your chance.
Exactly. I mean his record speak for itself. 9 Caps & 0 goals. Not sure how many more chances he can get. Maybe 1, 2 or 3 more? Sooner or later, he will have to score even in meaningless friendlies.
Wondo was Klinsmanned into playing a position he doesn't excel at. Also, how many of those 9 caps were 10 minute cameos at the end of a meaningless game.
Why is it all of a sudden Klinsmann's fault? Why can it not be Wondo's? You mean to tell me Klinsmann has to change his formation to accommodate Wondo?
No, it's up to Klinsy to have a formation and select the best players that excel at each of the positions in that formation. Wondo is no CF in a 4-3-3, so if Klinsy wants to continue playing that formation, I'd just assume he'd leave Wondo at home. It's also not a coincidence that Wondo had his best chances at goal during the '11 Gold Cup under Bob Bradley. He missed those chances, so you're right, those are on him.
No idea as I don't follow English soccer as I personally think its overrated. Just not my preference.
