I wish we had scouts who could scour the globe to find some hidden gems right now!

well given we have just lost bingham for who knows how long, should we bring Weber back in to kick the tires?? I do not feel comfortable at all with Newton as our number two.

Saw a young free agent rookie trialist in training yesterday. He scored 3 goals. Wonder if anyone knows who is ?

Is it A.J. Gray (African-American / African-Canadian guy)? He's played with the reserve team that last couple of games, along with Tommy Thompson, who looked very good the little bit that I saw him against the Portland reserves. Actually they both looked pretty good. Gray appears to be a Canadian who may have knocked around League One a little bit. That's about all I got on him.

I think Tommy Thompson is a Quakes academy guy but I can't tell for sure. If he's the guy I think he is, he's very young, like 17 or so(?)

sheesh TFC sure loves spending big money on holding mids... not sure if that is the best of use of their financial advantage. seems like a quality player but it's a bit like NY's 3 million/year for Cahill... not very sexy and isn't gonna give you big assist/goal numbers.

No he looked either like a Latin American or some type of Pacific Islander. I think he was around 22/23 years old.....

I can think of a better use for him. The "Chicken Hawk" has stopped impressing me since his breakaway goal in the pre-season.

He will score more goals even overweight than any of our players, younger or older.

Doyle don't need scouts. He's a legend in his own mind. Anybody shows up he signs. Then they put Corrales out for 10 games. Genius.

JD absolutely swindled houston in the wondo deal, dallas in the chavez deal, tfc in the gordon/attakora & cronin deals, and columbus in the lenhart deal. Also he has a solid draft/development record with guys like beitashour, morrow, baca, and jahn (although the garza over deleon pick still looks like a miss).

Was that JD or FY? I mean he knew Gordon/Attakora pretty well , probably more than Doyle as he trained them both....

BTW from what I heard, Baca (who went undrafted) was discovered when LMU soccer player (David Kucera) died in January 2011 and someone saw him at the funeral and told him to go try out...

That was Russel I believe. I think they knew of Baca before that however.

LMU's coach Paul Krumpe may have called Doyle also as they knew each other form their playing days on the USMNT team at Italia 90 but yes I think Ian Russel saw him at the wake and told him to come out....

Maybe we could get Tom Shane, from the Shane Co., to do a little work on the side when he is scouring the world for gems.

I'd rather have someone like George Zimmerman who can at least Guarantee us a real gem!
