BTW, thanks for Douchez guys ! :D ;)

He would have a hard time in English speaking countries given his name but it was still a great addition to Rennes' squad as for now.

can anyone tell me much about Ebondo of Toulouse? He`s being linked with my club Newcastle (unfortunately for him :D) as we have an injury crisis. Reliable defender?

GigLigue 1's leading goalscorer André-Pierre Gignac says his

love for the city convinced him to sign a one-year contract extension with highflyers Toulouse FC.nac loving life at Toulouse

    Leading light
The 23-year-old has risen from relative obscurity to the top of the scoring charts in France with 13 goals in 21 league appearances, one ahead of FC Girondins de Bordeaux striker Fernando Cavenaghi and Paris Saint-Germain FC's Guillaume Hoarau, and three more than Karim Benzema of Olympique Lyonnais. Such form persuaded Toulouse president Olivier Sadran to hand Gignac an extension until 2012, an offer the Martigues-born player was only too keen to accept.

    'Ambitious project'
"I accepted this ambitious project because it is very interesting and I love this city," he said. "I feel very good when in the side and among my team-mates." Such sentiment would have been a surprise 12 months ago when Gignac, who arrived from FC Lorient in the summer of 2007, was in the midst of a barren run in front of goal and would fail to add to his tally of two in the second half of the season.

    Elmander exit
His strike partner, Johan Elmander, scored eleven last term but when the Swedish international departed for Bolton Wanderers FC in the summer, Gignac answered the call of coach Alain Casanova to be the club's front-line forward. "Everybody was stunned by Elmander's performances but Gignac is now on par," said Casanova. "He fights like a devil and leads the line very well."

    Point to prove
Gignac is uncapped by France although Les Bleus coach Raymond Domenech admitted in September 2006 that he intends to "keep an eye on him". "I think about becoming top scorer even though the main aim is to secure a top-three place," said Gignac, who scored eight times on loan at FC Pau in 2005/06. "We can do it as we have a squad of players who want to prove a point after indifferent spells elsewhere." The squad for the friendly against Argentina on 11 February will show whether Domenech still has his eye on Gignac.

i have a certain fondness for tfc and was glad to see them get through, but the match they played to do it was far from satisfying. first look at pentecote was very promising, sirieix and sissokho were serious and professional, cetto too, but the rest of the team was lamentable, especially congre and ebondo, neither seemed to care a fig.

i only saw the first half, but since the final score was 0-1 with an OG i can't imagine it was any better.

sure they went through. but week after week, it's winning that brings more winning, heads up play and commitment that brings more of the same. against a team as week as last night's opponent they should have won easily, and would be better prepared for this weekend than by lazily walking it through last night. if valenciennes creams them i won't be surprised.

^ Too many empty seats. Toulouse is a strange city. If this was Germany or England the stadium would be full easily.

true but if you saw bordeaux, which is also a rugby town, that place was packed and both are in that southwest region that is experiencing delightful toasting humid weather

Rugby is more popular yet the rugby stadium is smaller than the football stadium. Stadium Municipal needs to go. Its really old and they are only doing minimal renovations on it. Since rugby is so popular they should get that 60,000 seat stadium they want build and TFC could benefit from that. Yes it would be too big for TFC but its still better than what they got now.
