Nothing will be better than the miracolo his recovery was, his on-time return... and to come back as the player with the most assist in the tournament and WIN the World Cup... never. I'm glad he retired after that, and I want it to stay that way.
watch any Totti passing video and it's like 90% chances missed....can't imagine how many more he would have with more clinical players throughout his career
Yeah I was looking at wiki's stat sheet which probably rarely gets updated. Question, when did assists start being tallied? They've been keeping that stat in US Soccer for years but I never saw it until recently in Italy....
Yea I've only noticed websites keeping track of it in recent years. 4 or 5 years ago I don't remember them being counted, or even if they were it was like they had stricter rules as to what an assist is. For some reason I remember some discussion about assists from corners, that they never used to give assists from corners but now they do. I'm going off a foggy memory about a discussion so I could easily be wrong.
Has anyone seen the comparisons of Cerci and Totti in the national team thread? OMG, what is going on over there? Am I am having a nightmare? Incredible!
despite some of our wishes, Totti is not being called up. he's old and we need to move on. give some younger players more WC experience same reason why Toni isn't being called up
Of course and we all know its a young man's tournament and no one is disputing that but to put Cerci in the same class as Totti? I'm mean I'm sorry but that is ludicrous and Cerci will never be 1/2 the player Totti is or was.
They are crazy. They are trying to compare Totti, Toni and DiNatale to Cerci and Immobile? Those guys will never be 1/2 the players they were and they've yet accomplished anything and as long as they are with Torino, they never will either. Heck they've got 11 caps without any goals and they are making them into world class superstars already? Incredible! I mean its very difficult to refrain and not respond but I mean come on!

As I was driving bac home, I listened to the Brazil -Colombia pregame show on ESPN radio. I couldn't understand everything only that a current Brazilian player has 4 assists , the most in a WC since 2006 when both Juan Riquelme and Francesco Totti tallied the same amount. I knew Totti had a few that tournament but I didn't realize he had 4. You could just imagine what he could have done at 29 years of age had he not been injured only a few months before.
He was playing out of this world good that season up until his injury. I wouldn't have been surprised by a 4 goal & 4 assist total that WC had he not suffered that injury.
Twenty years ago today, September 4 1994, Francesco Totti scored his first Serie A goal. Grazie capitano!
20 anni di gol e magia... Roma ha un vero gladiatore e un essempio per tutti. C'è solo un capitano!! #Totti pic.twitter.com/tliUz56xhQ— Bojan Krkic (@BoKrkic) September 4, 2014
