    I read that some 29 year old father of 4 was shot by the police (and what I read didn't say why). A couple of cop cars and a bus were set fire. Something like 300 people on High Road, I think.

    I saw some blurry pictures of shit on fire.

    Police shoot minority. Police say he shot at them. Others say it was a police execution.

    Combine that with a heavily minority area who don't trust police and you get that.

    How did Tottenham do last time there were riots? If it's the Broadwater Farm riots of October '85 Tottenham finished 10th in the league in the 85-86 - so it looks like it is a neutral sign, neither good or bad luck - precedent before that?

    Honestly it is hard to believe how a possible injustice on this father of 4, then leads to riots or breaking other peoples property that has nothing to do with it. I can understand if some police cars gets smashed as they are somewhat related.

    I suppose that it just encourage other bad apples to spread the violence who are not really caring about about the original (possible) injustice.

    Human behaviours brings out some strange and crazy stuff.

    Did the fires clear out enough room for a new stadium?

    Talk about scary for someone who's used to seeing the Rapids in the stands with soccer moms/dads & children. We were thinking of grabbing dinner at a restaurant across the street from the Barclays Bank (where the bus ended up being set ablaze), but decided to grab a burger outside of the stadium to hold us over for the trip back. Several blocks down is a huge mob of people just standing about & shouting. I was joking with my buddy (having no idea about what's been happening in Tottenham for the past week) that they're probably going to riot or something. We kind of have to push our way through to get back to the Underground, but nothing bad happened.

    I wake up the next morning and turn on Sky News and see the headline "Tottenham Riots". Apparently we missed the violence by about a half hour.

    First I must also say I hope Jum is safe because we all love you man. Next I want to say that this horrible incident just highlights just how alive racism is and that there is still a barrier. Now I don't know the details of the riot, but I do think that Tottenham is a prominently black area with many Caribbean and other ethnic groups around there. Just a shame that people had to die in this and I don't think more it can be stressed enough that help needs to be given to that area in terms of jobs and I really hope and believe that Tottenham Hotspur F.C. can offer that with the building of a new ground in the area.

    Also is Jum really a London Cop. My god I really hope he is doing well.

    Wow guys, cheers. I'm touched (in my special place). But seriously, I've been in France on holiday (where the main danger is inhaling too deeply next to a Frenchman) without internet or TV in a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. I only heard about it via text from family etc.
    I wasn't called in because I told them before I went I was abroad. :D

    The dead guy must've been an amazing drug dealer for his death to cause such a ruckus.

    The only jokes I've heard about the riots are; Tottenham have signed a new striker. Grabatelli

    And;

    12 shots were fired at Police last night during the riots but thankfully, they all missed. Police want to question Nicolas Bendtner as main suspect.
