Friedel looks set to start in goal and Bale and Dawson are out though other than that should be a strong team,

Avoid defeat and we are through, though we could still win the group if we win and Lazio lose. Though goal difference/goal scored would come into it.

    Friedel,
    Walker, Caulker, Vertonghen, Naughton,
    Lennon, Sandro, Carroll, Dempsey,
    Adebayor & Defoe

I like the look of this team, Carroll gives us a possession player and rests Dembele for Everton. Vertonghen could also do with a rest but at least playing CB with Caulker means less running than at LB with Gallas inside him.

Dempsey presumably on lefthand side, his best position.

Hope Ade shows some real form and better attitude.

anyone know if defoe has even touched the ball yet?

Pana only know how to sit deep and hit hopeful diagonal balls to Toche, they fluked it in the home game, but that's not going to work here.

Commentators are nobheads though, seem to think we should play like headless chickens all the time. Much rather see us control games and win thanks.

Carroll's been pretty impressive. Would be great to see him start with Sandro and Dembele in a three man midfield

It actually looks like it would work out better if we didn't finish first. Of course it's no guarantee, but the only teams I'd be worried about are Fernebahce, Lyon, and maybe the two Ukrainian teams.

That goal was brought to you by the word complacency.

Very complacent, still seem to only be able to play one competent 45 minutes under AVB.

2-1 Dempsey, great freekick by Walker and good header (albeit a bit lucky off the keeper).

Dempsey won't get credited for that one, but he made it happen.
