Nabil was given man of the match by NBCSN. Looks like he is growing little by little and it was nice to see Ade at the end of the game trying to encourage him. Thought the crowd was a little early with the anxiousness. Would have liked to hear more singing and getting behind the team then getting upset.
I find it hard to believe anyone in Spurs midfield would be considered for MotM. evertons midfield completely outclassed spurs midfield until the subs were all made. capoue was in barkleys shirt for most of the last 20 minutes, so barkley was rendered pretty ineffective. but 20 minutes doesn't make a match (and then he got away with a trip in the box - lucky it wasn't a penalty) even townsend was pretty bland. paulinho wasn't sharp. the midfielders were all getting outhustled and beaten to any loose balls. eriksen was held in check for the most part. lennon was frustrated it was like an AVB managed match with the difference being Adebayor
yep, i thought the same thing with AVB comment. Having Paulinho, bentalab and dembele is not the recipe for success. Dembele was fantastic though and needs to be paired with a pure CDM so he can go forward more often. Eriksen HAS to be behind Ade, the match would've been very different. Sherwood yet again is not the tactical genius... ugh
I guess the only thing he is doing right is keeping Ade red hot and scoring goals and that is good for us.
Only 2 shots on target. Agree it looked a lot like AVB ball. Everyone standing around wondering what to do while the ball is passed around the back line.
Why would he leave one mid-table team for another mid-table team? He's waiting for Moyles to fail at Man U.
Oh I don’t think he’s coming, he’s just who I would have liked to see replace Harry and AVB. As long as Levy is in charge I don’t think we’ll attract a Martinez like coach though.
I think Eriksen playing in the middle is the key to it all, we look different completely when he is there. and against United, Holtby showed why he shouldve stayed with Spurs ugh
I can understand they wanted to try out Dembele as an AM, but it didn't work at all. He just doesn't drive into the box, much better to have him CM and push Paulinho forward. We know Paulinho can score, may as well use him there. Other option would be to play them both deep and Eriksen in front. Bentalab had a very poor 15 mins and average half, second half did ok. He's definitely a talent, just nowhere near experienced defensively, Osman was really giving him a runaround and Everton knew he and Rose were vulnerable.
Capoue > Bentalab imo plus he allows his partner in CM to really attack since he covers so well. Dembele or Paulinho in that role. Last time we had a Capoue + Dembele partnership Capoue kept Dembele in position and did a fantastic job organizing our midfield. i really dont know what sherwoods beef is with him.
Could the standing around issues be down to the fact that the team hasn't completely found an identity? I mean we are trying still to play with a team of practically new players.
yes i agree with this and i think it doesnt help that we keep playing players out of position. new manager midseason doesnt help either. im still in the camp that avb shouldve stayed and i think they wouldve been clicking nicely by now.
Open game, we're pressing them high and getting chances, but also leaves Newcastle room on the break.
Bentalab needs to stay a little deeper as the pure CDM here, we are looking too open on the counter. overall very impressive so far though
