Jermain Defoe will miss the opportunity to make his farewell appearance for Tottenham against Dnipro in the Europa League because of a hamstring injury. The England striker, 31, joins Canadian MLS side Toronto on Friday after Spurs agreed to a £6m move last month. Midfielder Sandro (calf) and right-back Kyle Walker (hip) could return against Dnipro, who hold a 1-0 first-leg lead. But Danny Rose and Etienne Capoue miss out after both picked up knee injuries in Sunday's 1-0 loss at Norwich. Defoe will say goodbye to the home supporters by appearing on the White Hart Lane pitch at half-time of Thursday's match. He is fifth in the Premier League club's all-time goalscoring chart, having scored 143 goals in 363 appearances in two separate spells.
Will be good to see Defoe get a proper send off and hopefully the players can get the win. Then we need to focus about our game over the weekend.
I dont know if this is accurate, but I just read something that Tottenham and AC Milan are working on a swap, consisting of Lamela and Balotelli... Sounds like a steal if this is the case, almost too good to be true. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/tottenham-...io-balotelli-swap-deal-113228052.html#Fx6Wi5Q
Here is the F defense lineup! Lloris; Naughton, Dawson, Vertonghen, Fryers; Dembele, Eriksen, Sandro, Townsend; Adebayor, Soldado - RW And subs: Friedel, Veljkovic, Bentaleb, Chadli, Lennon, Paulinho, Kane.
Naughton and Fryers :S! Anyone else bummed to not see Kaboul again not even on the bench, injured again? No Walker again, even on bench, does make me a bit worried something is going on in terms of injuries... fullback is our weakest position of depth by miles and miles. Nice to see Eriksen out there, and really great to see Sandro. I sure hope Soldado scores a lot tonight, the man needs to get the juices flowing, u know he will score a lot once he does.
I won't pretend Fryers + Naughton doesn't concern me, but I'm delighted to see Sandro back. I'm also probably in the minority here but I'm glad to see Soldado too. I still have faith he's going to come good.
Hope this game isn't as crazy as the 1 o'clock games. Every one seemed to come down to the last 5 minutes.
*waves* I'm not over yet. i'll be there for the next round, which is why getting through this tie is so important for me. i'll either be spending my Thursday night watching (hopefully) Benfica at the lane, or having a pint and some curry with my mate Baldeh in south London. I'd really prefer the former.
Hull and former Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone on Twitter: "Looking forward to the spurs game tonight, great atmosphere for European nights at the lane! Fancy them to win comfortably."
acc. to http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php both Rose and Walker return on March 2nd, the others are w/o return date.
Why do I have the feeling that in an hour we're going to be playing for nothing the rest of the season.
+1 minute stoppage at the end of the half. Dnipro sure was punished for all of their 1st half time-wasting.
