Clint has to be the only one of 'em who went to college, right? ;) (beside Friedel, of course)

Both sides of Bale. Two good goals and an embarrasing sitter missed.

I don't understand, I though Dempsey was too slow and not good enough in transition and missed sitters.

Dempsey just plays better a little bit farther away from the goal. Pretty good second half from him, I think.

Edit: I never turn away from these ESPN broadcasts fast enough to avoid the bowling commercials.

I thought he was very good, and not dissimilar from how he was Wednesday. The difference is that the spacing for Spurs is about a billion times better than it is for the US.

He worked very hard. Solid effort.

That being said this was his most comfortable match as lead striker.

IMO, great first 30 minutes, quiet for the middle 35 or so, but a fantastic last 25+ even though he was completely gassed.

Maybe yeah, but even moreso here than when they put him in that spot at Fulham, whenever he's lead striker there's a bit of round-peg-square-holeness happening.

I thought that was a pretty good game from Deuce despite not getting on the scoresheet. Admirable work rate and good link up play. He didn't waste possession often and went the full 90. Definitely didn't do anything to jeopardize his place in the starting XI, maybe even solidified it. What do you guys think?

I think if AVB was smart, he's start Clint behind Adebayor and use Holtby as needed, since Holtby, to me, looks incredibly meh.

Yeah. He probably needs to get a bit more acclimated. I will say he's better than Sigurdsson, who's the player equivalent of Cream of Wheat.

Opta has clint with 4 shots, one blocked & one saved. Bale had 8 shots, 4 on target. Spurs with 18 total..

Dempsey was 24/33 passing, 2 chances created, and 6/11 in aerial duels.

Spurs in 3rd. Thank goodness they didnt sell Bale last month. I dont see Defoe coming back as a starter not with the way Bale is performing and Dempsey/Adebayor/Holtby

To be honest, virtually no one looks good playing lone striker. It is a thankless nearly always fruitless role. You have to play with very talented passing midfielders to get the right kind of service. When your midfield is more intent on shooting than passing, well, you are just there as an outlet to hold up and reset the team further up the pitch.

NCU still in the afterglow of the chelsea win. Nice to see them play good ball again.

AVB leaves Dempsey in and takes Holtby out for Ade. 30 yr old Dempsey, in his third game in 6 days, in the 95th minute or so, with 2 defenders on him in the box chips a gimme to Bale who should have put it in for the clincher and a hat trick.

That is the stuff that makes Dempsey valuable to his team, as most USMNT fans already know.

I know it's goal.com, but they just ranked Dempsey as flop of the match.

And that Bale is Welsh... Just imagine for a moment Gareth instead of the player formerly-known-as-pornstachio.

Which is a sure sign he had a good day. for more useless info whoscored has him 4th best after Bale (9.99 or something), Dembele and Walker were about .2 above Clint.

On the AVB meter, Clint was a 90.

the unsung hero thus far has been Dawson. Talk about being a team player, waiting his time as Gallas's cadaver wilted, taking the armband and solidifying that back line. He hasn't been perfect, but
he's brought some much needed leadership.
