I thought it would be good to have a thread dedicated to current Toronto FC players who are playing for the nations as we do have a few international on the squad. Have a place for news on their international duty and some analysis and comments of their performances for their national teams. There are a number of Toronto FC players now who are out with the Canadian National camp and are going to feature in the friendly in Jamaica at the end of the month. Players from the club are Attakora, De Guzman, DeRo, Gerba and Serioux (though rumor is he is hurt). Also ex-TFC players such as Monsalve, Gaudet and Hemming are also at camp. Also Wynne played a week ago for the USA in a 3-1 loss to Honduras and reading the reaction and analysis on the board it seems like Wynne had a mare of a game.
Re: Toronto FC Players National Team Edition Sorry, but I think this is about the most appropriate thread to ask the question without unnecessarily starting a new one... I was wondering when the CMNT is playing Jamaica (I thought it was today), and will the game be available on TV/Internet stream... Can anyone help?
Re: Toronto FC Players National Team Edition Yes the game is today but I know for a fact that it isn't on TV as Sportsnet has the rights to CSA games and they decline to show it. As far as streams I have no idea, hope there is one though because I would like to watch the games.
Re: Toronto FC Players National Team Edition A few of the Toronto FC players got some game time today in Canada's 1-0 loss to Jamaica. De Guzman and Gerba both started the game while Attakora came on in the 71th minute for his first cap. p.s - Could one of the mods put a [R] on the title of the thread please
Even though Wynne had a poor display vs Honduras it looks like he is still in the mix as he got another call up from Bob Bradley for their friendly on Feb 24 vs El Salvador. It is good to note this squad is made up of a all MLS players. http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_...-usa-training-camp-roster-vs-el-salvador.html
Major thing this year with the club is the Gold Cup and which players from the clubs will be taken away by the national team. Could be a huge hole in the middle of our back-line is Attakora and Cann were called up
Truthfully, I don't think they both will be. Cann has been playing great but I don't think that he's too close to the top of the pecking order for CMs on the national side. He's most likely coming into this friendly due to his current proximity. Nana on the other hand, will surely get the call for the Gold Cup.
I wouldn't be so sure of that, Pozniak's been logging minutes in Germany, Cann has emerged as a leader, and Stephen Hart seems to be favouring Straith, McKenna(when he isn't hurt) and we know he wants David Edgar to get into the team. The main question as to whether or not Attakora will find space on the squad for the 2011 Gold Cup to me is really whether or not Paul Stalteri swallows his pride, moves to MLS, and starts getting minutes again. If he doesn't, Nana's a safe bet.
DeRo and Cann both featured in the 1-0 loss to Greece http://www.torontofc.ca/news/2011/02/canada-unable-overcome-greece
Few of the Academy players were playing in the u17 which on their first game http://www.torontofc.ca/news/2011/02/academy-players-star-canada-drubbing
Parker Seymour and Jay Chapman played full 90 while Michael Petrasso came off the bench in a 0-0 draw at the CONCACAF u17. Canada will play T&T in the QF with the winner getting a berth in the u17 World Cup in Mexico in June. http://concacaf.globalsportsmedia.c...s&page=tournament&view=match&match_id=1060610
Canada will be heading to the u17 World Cup in Mexico this summer after a 2-0 win over T&T Kevin Aleman from TFC Academy scored in the game while Petrasso and Seymore both featured in the game.
Aleman, Seymore and Petrasso all feature for Canada semi-final win over Panama in the CONCACAF u17. Canada won the game 1-0 and will play the American Sunday in the final.
Few Toronto FC players got called up to the Canada u20 team for the CONCACAF U-20 championship which starts next week. Players called up were Ashtone Morgan, Matt Stinson and Doneil Henry. http://www.canadasoccer.com/news/viewArtical.asp?Press_ID=4721
Henry came on in the 79th minute and Stinson was an unused sub in Canada 2-1 win over Guadeloupe in the CONCACAF U20 Championship. Canada next game is on Friday vs Costa Rica http://www.canadasoccer.com/tourney/FIFA_U20WC/game_profile.asp?gameId=1909
Henry played full 90 in a 3-0 loss to Costa Rica in the CONCACAF U20 championship. Stinson who is in the squad was an unused sub. Canada will play Mexico Tuesday in QF
Henry played full 90 minutes in a 3-0 QF loss to Mexico in the CONCACAF U20 which means Canada won't be going to the U20 World Cup in Colombia. Stinson who is also with the team was an unused sub.
Joao Plata was called up to the Ecuador National team for their Copa America tune up game vs Mexico, Canada and Greece.
Julian De Guzman is the lone TFC player to be a part of the Gold Cup roster. I wonder if Cann was considered by Stephen Hart at all. But then again, I don't think Winter/Mariner wanted to lose a key players for a long stretch. Stephen Hart has also said in the past he was willing to be reasonable when summoning players from TFC, and other clubs.
Seems Dicoy Williams received a call up for Jamaica as well. Maybe Nana will get a chance to reclaim his spot on the roster
