Not sure why they release these, and what good it does.

Surprised by Plata, thought he'd make more.
Kocic needs a raise. Harden doesn't.

now i know why Lambe was signed long term, at that low rate.

I agree - all it does is foster the "this guy is sooooo overpaid/underpaid" discussions

One thing that I notice is that all the Canadian players who didn't come up through the academy (JDG, Cann & Dunfield) are overpaid. Is TFC still signing Canadian players through First Wave (or whatever that agency was called)?

nothing against Cann - I do think he's a good player. But I'm not sure he gets that salary with any other team

Eckersley, Hall, Aceval, Dunfield, and Harden stick out the most as being overpaid (and JDG of course). Soolsma, Cann, and Avila have pretty hefty wages as well. Really surprised at Plata, his salary almost makes up for that ridiculous transfer fee. Kocic is way underpaid. TFC got a good deal on Lambe

They're both overpaid (although 120k isn't horrible). The difference is that Aceval is paid that much because of his resume, whereas Cann is paid that much because of his nationality.

Eckersley is overpaid, but what was to be expected when you sign a guy who was last making around 500k per year. was he expected to cancel his old contract and take a 400k pay cut just to get some playing time? I get the feeling that this is on upper management. They new he was a fan favourite, so they probably told Mariner that he had to sign him (and Plata) no matter what.

I don't mind paying 100k for a player of Hall's versatility and ability. So far he's played RB, RW, and midfield and I haven't had much to complain about when he played any of those positions

Soolsma's and Avila's salaries are fine for what they bring. You can't expect everyone except for the DPs to sign for <100k. Soolsma's our best winger and Avila is our best (non-DP) midfielder. I'd say that's money well spent on those two.

There's nothing I can say about Aceval. Unless he shapes the f*ck up, that's 150-200k wasted (I've heard that the cap hit isn't necessarily either of the two numbers).

Honestly, I'm more concerned about the roster spots that Harden and Dunfield occupy then I am about their salaries

Kocic isn't under paid, he's a good deal. Lets say he was paid 100k, and was Frei's backup. People would be complaining about how much we're paying for a backup. I swear MLS (or is it just TFC?) is the only league where fans complain about how little ____ player gets. If the Leafs signed someone to a 3 year, $1.5m contract, and he went on to score 30 goals in his first season, you wouldn't hear a single soul complain about them being underpaid, he would simply be a great signing.

There's two things that surprised me:
    DC DeRosario Dwayne M $ 617,857.20 $ 663,190.53
I thought that the max amount a non-DP could earn was 500k, which had to be bought down to 335k with allocation.

    VAN Young-Pyo Lee D $ 140,000.00 $ 174,200.00
Here I was under the impression that he was a DP signing. 140-174k is insanely low for a player with his experience. I wonder if there was some sort of deal where he would make a pretty penny from lee young-pyo merchandise sales, or sponsorships.

What are the terms of the other guys' contracts? It's one thing to overpay for one year: it's when you're tied to such a contract for 3 or more years that poses the bigger problem with how you fill or maintain other roster spots with the salary cap/allocation funding.

Aceval looks a total bust at the moment but hopefully just for a shorter duration deal.

Never said Kocic wasn't a good deal for us, but he's underpaid nonetheless, more so than anyone else on the team. His salary at the moment is awesome for now, and probably fair for someone who not too long ago was an unknown third-string keeper, but I expect that salary to go up next year, which'll mean some roster shuffling...somehting we'll have to do anyways considering all the players who are vastly overpaid.
As for those players who are overpaid...TFC took a risk on Aceval, thinking he'd be the playmaking central defender we needed, but it was obviously a bad risk since he's been a total bust. Harden and Dunfield should probably be earning closer to minimum MLS wage. Hall has done better than I expected, but still think he should be closer to minimum wage as well. Eckersley at 100k is probably too much to ask and 200k seems pretty fair, but it's the second number that worries me (nearly 400k ) , since I'm pretty sure that's the number that counts towards the salary cap. If I'm wrong though and it's the first number that counts, the deal is nowhere near as bad. We're only stuck with JDG's 1.8mil for another half-season and then he can either take a deservedly huge paycut (to somewhere in the 200k range) or get the hell out of here.
Avila, Soolsma, and Cann are a bit overpaid, but yes, their salaries are about right

i'm quite sure Aceval was a 1 year deal, so no worries.

Their resumes means they are going to get paid more.

You expect around 150k-200k for good MLS starters.

Ecks needs to be on the field at all times. If not at rb why not center d alongside cann or right mid maybe.
