Do you think it would be good or bad for Shea? This author thinks its bad news. http://stoppagetimesoccer.net/2014/04/mls-rumors-return-mls-bad-brek-shea/
Can't say that I agree with that assessment. If he's reached a plateau, then maybe going back to the league where he started, where he knows the style of play, is the right way to get back on track. If he's good enough for the USMNT, then he's definitely starting quality in MLS, especially on TFC where the competition for his position is not very strong. I haven't seen him play since he went to England, but from what I saw when he was with FCD, he was a real terror. The quality of the league hasn't gone up THAT much since he left.
I saw Luke Moore play live, at Villa park in 07. very ordinary, even then. good enough for tfc. I would drop Rey, and get a better mid for his money. Oh, and one quality fullback that can cross, either side, i wouldn't care which.
Boss is so far down on the depth chart they TFC has used both a rookie and Bradley Orr out of position as cbs over him. If they're not going to use him, you might as well get someone they they are going to use over him, and with Dike out you need a backup striker.
Bloom's crossing is pretty underrated imo. I'm not too worried about our fullbacks especially since Bloom has also improved defensively this year Moore is on a $120k salary btw which isn't actually as bad as I thought it would be. We traded a bad CB we never use for a solid depth striker...at least that's the plan. I think it's an improvement
Unless something happens....Defoe will not be leaving us for the WC as he has been named as a standby only for the England squad. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27362447 The other forward/striker on the standby list is Andy Carroll.
Not surprising. England generally doesn't like to have players not in the Premiership on their squad. It happens, but rarely and only then it's been players in other high calibre leagues like La Liga. Having an MLS player on their squad is not good for the image they like to present.
Mixed feelings about this. Obviously glad to keep him. Sad for him personally and also worried it might effect him negatively and make him have second thoughts about his decision to come here.
Which will make it look really good when Brazil sends them home after Brazil's goalie stops them on penalties.
The history on this stuff is way to short to make any sort of sweeping generalization.......who was the first notable English international to come to MLS....David Beckham in 2007. We will never know if he would have been included in Fabio Cappello's squad for the WC in 2010 as he was injured in March of that year....but he had played in, what, 15 or so of the previous 20 England matches before the injury....so we don't know. In the DP era what other active English internationals have come to MLS?
Either way....TFC is better with him than without him and it looks like they will have him for the entire season.
Birthday surprise!! Wow! Just like that. It's not right.Surreal. #mlssoccer #Inhumane— Issey Nakajima-Farran (@isseynfarran) May 16, 2014
He's not happy. ;-) I actually liked him...he's not the most skilful player out there, but he did give it his all, and, if I'm not mistaken, is our number two goal scorer behind Defoe, so far.
Yes. I'm very surprised they would send him away. In his short time he's shown a nice knack for scoring.
