    1. Richard Pryor -- Number one by a mile. My favorite thing about him is that he would tell stories about his life, and they were funny but they were also true and warm in a strange way. He really made you like him and pulled you onto his side in his stories. He's a brilliant storyteller and so funny.

    2. Eddie Izzard -- Comedy + history and brains + french = I likey.

    3. Steven Wright -- It takes serious guts to do sets like his.

    4. Dave Chappelle -- Best young comedian today. Shame he seems to have given it up.

    5. Bill Hicks -- Something to say, funny way of saying it.

Honorable mention to Ellen Degeneres -- her material is totally G-rated and still hilarious, which is extremely difficult to do.

Norm McDonald is the worst stand-up comedian alive. He is not funny at all.

    Richard Pryor
Rodney Carrington- ( mostly because he is a personal friend that I went to school with) but he is funny..
    Chris Rock.

In no particular order, Mitch Hedberg, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Robin Williams, and Bill Hicks.

Unfortunately 3 out of the 5 were taken way too soon. Bill Hicks is probably my favorite because of how cutting edge he was at the time, and didn't give a crap about how dirty his material was or if anyone was offended by it.

I like him, but he became way too commercial. His early stuff, before he was Mr TBS or TNT or whatever, was very funny. Course, i don't think he'll ever get on this thread, unless we change it to top 200 of all time.

I dont know about top 5, but I find Jimmy Carr halerious. I saw his acts on Comedy Central, and with his British accent its great!

One of his openers was something like this:
"Yes I have an accent, but then do I? I am English. This is just how things sound when they are pronounced correctly" I dont know I love English accent, and he always acts so proper and English like, then when he is talking about nonsense comedian stuff it just sounds even funnier:)
