Ah the Madrid forum is always hilarious after defeats. The excuses ... the calendar, our players suck (all of them including the ones who were awesome just a week ago), we should buy 20 new players, and our players are just not trying hard enough. I like the last one ... because it says that it's just impossible for them to lose if their players at least try hard. I watched the game, they were running their asses off for 90 mins. One guy even said that the pinnacle of a player's career is to play for Madrid. So once they get there, they have no more motivation. So they stop trying their hardest.
I don't see them winning the CL this year tbh.. When was the last time they were in the finals?? You can't just buy players, stick them together and win titles.. You have to have a philosophy, a belief, passion and drive. You need a good core of youth talent rising to make the core of the first team. The way Barca revolutinized modern football.. Last year was an exception of a nightmare/miracle which we would never see in another 100 years. (Chelski) *they still talk about how many they CL they won, 7 of which were in the FN 50s. 90% of the of modern football teams weren't around or never competed..
One of my favorites (and an early candidate for an OTT title): If Chelsea can win it last year, so can we!!!
Lots of tweets flying around about Benitez getting booed at Stamford Bridge, chants of "only one Di Matteo", and Citeh fans serenading him with "You'll Get Sacked In The Morning".
I understand Chelsea fans wanting to get Mourinho back, and to be honest, wouldn't be the weirdest thing to see him join them at some point, even this summer. Although I don't mind him staying in LPB for years, kinda perfect enemy (just like it's nice that C-Ron and Pepe play there).
Yah I watched the game too.. A lot of fans pissed off and were chanting things throughout the game. Many many banners and posters were seen all over the stadium.. Half the time they showed that stupid dumbfounded look on RA face. Man I can't stand him
Looking at clubs like LPB and Chelsea, it's nice that we have pretty consistent management. Only 2 different coaching regimes since 2003. Very few "big clubs" can claim that.
AM up 3 x 0 on Sevilla and a man up. 3 points in the bag for the most dangerous club in Madrid Will make things very interesting for upcoming Classico Madrileno. If AM manages to win, they will be up 11 pts on their city rivals.
Liga is only 1/3 played, but then again also "already 1/3" played. Could get sweet if AM can keep it up. Like, there being a moment when people start seriously to ponder whether AM can finish as the best Madrid based team. Indeed the AM vs. LPB match will be one to watch. Either LPB loses points or we get to widen the gap. A win-win, sort of. With a possible extra of seeing the pain in LPB's faces when they keep not-winning. Such a good Liga season.
Tweet by @LaLigaLoca: Málaga played at Zenit St Petersburg on Wednesday. Beat Valencia 4-0 on Saturday. More travel. Smaller squad. Less moaning.
Yeah, I didn't see this coming. The Sevilla-Betis match was probably the most one-sided game I've seen this season.
Way to miss the point. LPB-fan intelligence on display again. I'm not saying penalties are less meaningful, but it is obviously less impressive to convert on a penalty than a free kick. Messi on pace to score 55 non-PK Liga goals this season. 15 more than last season even!
Mauricio Pochettino sacked from Espanyol. First sacking of the season. Anyone pick him in the prediction thread?
The new "strategy" is even more cute since there are no (meaningful) CL matches for the next 3 months. But never mind that minor detail. They are focusing 100% on CL starting .... NOW. BTW what were they focusing on the last 3 months? Not clear from results...
Sid Lowe writes about the growing 11 and 8 point gaps and what they might mean or not mean: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/nov/26/barcelona-la-liga-real-madrid
For the record I'm rooting for Atletico on Saturday. With Barca playing first a Barca win (not taking it for granted) will give us a temporary 14 and 6 point lead on Real and Atletico, respectively. While points wise a Real win makes sense (we'd be up 11 and 6), and a draw helps (we'd be up 13 and 5 then), but I simply want to see Real lose again, and frankly Atletico staying to close only helps keep our squad sharp. Latest rumor has Mou leaving not for England (all the rich clubs there want Pep) but for PSG with Crynaldo in tow. Of course he'd spin that as time to triumph in another top league special one that he is (Portugal, England, Italy, Spain and then France - only Germany would be left?)
