Russia are the European vice-champions, Spain barely beat them. Yes we can beat the other two and go thru.

Guatemala - Colombia tomorrow at 06:00 EDT. I will be up early to watch, moreso as I can make up for 1 hour of sleep on Sunday It will be Guate's 8th ever World Cup match (3-0-4, 24 GF 49 GA). Betting odds are averaging 3.06 for GUA win, 5.3 for a draw (not bad) and 1.69 for COL win.
Guatemala 5-2 Colombia. A higher level of technique, tactical fundamentals, and experience gave Guate its first ever win against a South American team in a World Cup, as well as its first ever win in a World Cup opener. In the 1st period Guatemala seemed to have a tough time adjusting to the rhythm of the match and the speed of the ball & court. Carlos Mérida saved a PK when the score was 1-1, but then Colombia scored the 2-1 within 2 min. before HT when Guatemala was playing with 4 men due to a red card. These were the toughest moments of the game for Guate. Foul trouble for Colombia during both halves, which Guatemala did not capitalize in the 1st but sure did in the 2nd, when Allan Aguilar scored from the 12 meter spot to give the 3-2 lead. Not long before that, IMO the most important goal had come courtesy of youngster Armando Escobar who equalized with a sublime turn and diagonal low screamer from the left wing. Once we had the lead, the rest was history, Guate managed the clock and possession, and gifted the thousands of fans following the game with 2 "bonus" fantasy goals both fabricated by magicians Walter "El Grillo" Enríquez in conjunction with veteran/talisman/player-coach Erick Acevedo. With this win, the biggest mystery is sorted out and the objective of qualifying to the 2nd round is basically achieved. Congrats to our great representation in Thailand.
