Martinez is not ready for a job like Liverpool, especially in their current state. He needs 2-3 years in midtable and a cup run before taking the next step. I would be happy with that though, especially given how many on RAWK do not like the idea.

AVB could be interesting for them, although think he needs an intermediary couple of years at Roma or back at Porto to build himself back up again and apply what he learnt from his mistakes at Chelsea. Liverpool would feel like rushing back with a point to prove, and to a squad which is even less suitable for his style of play than Chelsea.

Can't help but thinking there's a little too much hype around Martinez at the moment. If he was so great, why were Wigan always in a relegation dogfight. Sure the resources are limited there, but that is true at other clubs that have not really been in any danger all year (eg Norwich). Still if he can parlay that into a job at Anfield, good luck to him (not).

West Ham promoted. Blackpool better team on the day, but West Ham and their Allardyce 'percentage football' got through.

To be fair we have a great record against West Ham over the last 10 years. Avram Grant getting the better of Harry was the only time it went against us.

Playing his ass off for the first half of the year?

In the 3 years he was at Arsenal Nasri played well for 4 months. He wasn't for the money, he's making things up in his head that it was anything else. He was incredibly disappointing this season and often subbed off. City are already going after Hazard anyways.

He's certainly not as good as he thinks he is, but then L'Arse did try pretty hard to keep him. There have been a couple of L'Arse player who think they're G-d's gift (Adebayor, Bendtner), but they're really just above average.

Time for him to start a new career in a league where the opposing fans flood the pitch to defend a player of theirs who is sucker-punched. He may not survive the season in such a league.

He would have to rely heavily on his secret defense of putting lit cigarette butts in eyes.

Heh. Charlie scored for Croatia in their friendly against Estonia. Niko's getting a run out, too.

Martinez turned them down, so Brendan Rogers is going to be head coach at Liverpool.

A real shame, this will end up for him like his spell at Reading. He should have stuck with the great setup he has at Swansea for another year at least, then he would have been in prime position for us or Arsenal.

I think a good decision by Martinez. He feels he has something to create and prove there. I hope he does it. I hope that he extracted greater commitment to resources to help that happen at Wigan.

the rumors around hillsborough are that wednesday will unveil tomorrow their newest signing ... ant gardner. i've got a handful of mates up there, and follow SWFC more closely than any club, save spurs. i always get up to at least one wednesday match whenever i get over.

i must say, i'm really looking forward to defending ol' ant whilst all about me are denouncing him as rubbish. it'll be like old times.

Gio just scored a goal against Brazil and drew a penalty which led to another goal. Oh and the game's only at halftime.

Gio was all set to join Villareal this summer until they got relegated. Apparently Rodgers wanted him for Swansea and may still take him to Liverpool. Hopefully Gio can tempt someone into bidding for him with a game like this, doesn't suit anyone for him to stay at the club for his final contract year.

Not sure if Gio's goal was intentional, but if so it was pretty sick.
