Yup. Forget about Chandler. All his earlier blather now stinks of an opportunist [Ich bin zum Land loyal, das mir das Geld zeigt] spinning a yarn [about his desire to play for the USA]to dazzle the rubes [that be the USMNT....and us]. He's dust.

Maybe it's just me, but this doesn't hurt as much as Rossi and Subotic.
Real Corona and soccersubjectively repped this.

Rossi doesn't really bother me. Granted, I wanted him to join us in the worst way when it was time to choose. But he was never American as a player.

Subotic is an effing liar who found an easy scapegoat in Rongen so that he could back track on his comments about not representing another nation after pulling on the U.S. shirt.

I'm disappointed in Chandler moreso in his indecision than anything. You don't get to hide anymore Timmy. Whoever you choose in the future, you'll have to do it in a very public and irrevocable manner.

Any guesses as to who really grinds my gears?? ;)

Everyone needs to skip to 2:00 and hear what he says

That means about as much to me as "I did not have sexual relations with that women".

The video only said "Chandler lived in New York for awhile as a child" (1:40) - it doesn't mention his father at all.

But these quotes look silly in retrospect
"It wasn't difficult because the USA asked me first, and I went there. It's too late for Germany if they ask me now, I'm playing for the US, and that's that." (quote starts at 2:00). Later on, he says "The US National team is like a family..."

I read it on this blog last year that he lived with his father in NY for a few years, who is he going to live in NY when he was a little kid with himself? Come on now it was his father.

Could have been his mother alone, or mother with father. Probably not father by himself. In any case, it's not clear what relationship Chandler has with his father currently, if at all. And my original point is that if Chandler doesn't have a good relationship with his father, he might want to support his mother's "side" by refusing to play for the US. Though that still doesn't explain why he changed his mind after playing for us for a year.

It was only his father then he went back to Germany and was raised by his German mother.

Lichaj has been a terrific defender. He generally locks down his man.

On the left side, be provides nothing in the attack outside of his long throwins. On the right, so far he's, um, somewhat adequate.

With Gooch, Boca, Dempsey, and Bradley in the lineup that's a few extra set pieces for them to feast on every game...

This thread is 16 pages long. Have we also hated on him now for taking out Gonzalez this winter as well?

Haha good point! Not only does Chandler not accept the call up, he also takes out one of our best young defenders! How dare he!!

Lichaj is actually really good going forward down the right. He played very few games at RB for Villa this season but I remember him doing very well. He scored a goal against Chelsea from the RB spot cause he attacked down the right side and slotted home a cross. He also got an assist that night playing RB. He was the MOTM. It's just too bad that McLeish focused on playing Hutton who had been awful all season at RB instead of Lichaj. It's very obvious how much more confidence Lichaj has attacking from the RB spot rather than the LB spot.

I doubt you've seen more then a few minuets of his games this year if this is a genuine feeling.

Boateng and Bender are both playing right back very well for Germany right now at the Euros, even though it is not their preferred position. They are 24 and 23 years old, I think. That can't be very encouraging for Timmy.

Not that I was anti-Germany before, but yes, I have been assiduously rooting for Germany to win Euro 2012 with brilliant performances from their outside backs for precisely this reason.
Craig P and Mr Martin repped this.

I hope he comes back in September and says, "I'm ready to go and I'll never pull this shit again."

I also hope that I get a six figure raise tomorrow.

I checked out Nuremberg's site and I went to Timothy Chandler's profile and the site asked him a variety of questions one of the questions said "A social event that has touched me was?" and he answered September 11, 2001. I believe he will accept the callup for the 9/11 WCQ.

Man, I don't know about Chandler, but him and Johnsonn lined up at outside back would create so much space for Dempsey and Donovan.

I'm hoping he's available this later this year and he just doesn't play summer soccer.
