    Hi

    Just looking for some help

My son is currently at JuCo and will hopefully be moving onto D1 NCAA

My question relates to the timetable for this

I have had a look, but cant seem to find clear rules around JuCo – D1 recruiting timetable

I can find it no problem for High School

    So;

When can a college speak to him?
When can a college arrange a formal visit?
When can a college make a formal offer of a scholarship?

Or, if you have a link to a site I can look at, that would be great

Just struggling a little to get some clear help with this

    Thanks

So he will be transferring from JC to Division 1 ? Has he been contacted by any Div 1 programs?

Yep - transferring from JuCo to D1

He has already been contacted by a number of D1 colleges who are actively interested in him and unless something goes very badly wrong, he will move to a D1 College for the Fall 2013

Just not sure at what point specifics can start to be discussed in terms of offers, scholarships, etc

I "think" once he has finsihed his 1st year at JuCo, then it is open season to discuss this, just not sure

You can commit whenever you want, Waid Ibrahim, an ex Gaucho, basically committed to UCSB 2 years (while he was in highschool) before he suited up for SBCC. Nothing was signed until Feb of the year he was about to officially enroll at UCSB, obviously.

Ps. the coaches who are contacting him will initiate. Usually, offers are given on official visits and that can be done anytime as far as I know. However, if I were a coach, I'd wait til after the Fall to see if there's a huge discrepancy in performance between your kid's freshman and sophmore season

    Thanks for that

I would agree and would also wait if it were me - though I suppose it is like anyhting - how much they want him and how many colleges are currently looking at him

Thanks for the info though - has cleared up a few questions for me :)
