Isn't their season done? How much time in between games will they have. They just may be out of synce by the time we play. Unfortunately, it's the opposite for Chelsea. I believe we will continue to have a game every three days till the end of the season.

Jus have to say, f u fa

We'll have a tight schedule before the FA Cup final, but we'll be well rested for the ECL final.

Gustavo should not be much of a loss. They can play any two of Kroos/Schweini/Tymoschuk in the middle. They have Rafinha to cover for Alaba but I am not sure what they'll do without Badstuber as Van Buyten is out injured.

I think our losses in the Final are unarguably more of a blow than Bayern's losses (JT and Ramires, especially). We have a deep enough squad to replace who we're missing, but between now and May 19, Luiz and Cahill need to do EVERYTHING possible to stay fit, stay healthy, and for god's sake don't get injured.

This will be a great Final, and I'm very happy to see Bayern and Chelsea fans very cordial with each other. The only way that may change is if the Final itself becomes controversial - so let's hope that we get a good referee who's up to the task. NO F**KING HOWARD WEBB (which I guess we won't have to worry about, since getting an English official in an English club v. German club final is unlikely -- phew).

Defense is going to be a huge problem for Munich. They looked really poor last night, and that was with Alaba and Badstuber actually playing. I don't know who Bayern will use at centerback, but suffice to say whoever it is, they're going to be playing out of position.

The suspensions aren't going to hurt Chelsea as badly, because Cahill and Luiz have gotten plenty of experience this season. Bosingwa probably would have started at RB anyway, mainly because of Ribery's pace.

Ivanovic is just as big of a loss. He's probably the best header in our team now.

Um, what? Ivanovic would have been a no-brainer at RB, buddy.

You're right - as soon as I posted that I realized I forgot about Ivan. It's a huge loss :(

That would not have been a good idea against Ribery. Oh well, they don't have much of choice now anyway, Bosingwa it is.

Bosingwa is generally not a good idea against anybody. If you've followed Chelsea at all this year (or last), it's well known already that Bosingwa is a defensively liability who has been culpable for many a defensive lapse and conceded goals. Ivan may not be as limber as Bos, but he's not a complete lunker. Ivan's got pace when he needs it, and the physicality to nullify players like Ribery. Bos has had a couple of decent performances lately, but that doesn't erase the complete shit he has otherwise been, season in and season out. Brana's loss is MASSIVE.

But, as you say, the choice of Ivan is not there. But, hell... I'm so anti-Bosingwa that, right now, I wouldn't be opposed to prepping Paulo Ferreira for the Final. Get him on the field this weekend against QPR and let's start building his fitness for May 19 ;)

I know people give Bos a lot of grief, but IMO he's better equipped to deal with a pacey winger like Ribery; not to mention he has European Cup final experience. As for defensive liabilities, Luiz and Cahill have very little big game experience, and their susceptibility to making that one gaffe against someone like Gomez or Robben would have made me inclined to play Ivanovic at CB alongside Terry. But alas...

Totally agree with your rant about Bosingwa.

But I am inclined to suggest....can Bertrand play at RB???

I think they will miss Alaba more than Gustavo, just because it will probably also force them to take Lahm away from his preferred position. Tymoschuk should be able to fill in for Gustavo.

And as much of a liability Badstuber can be, Van Buyten is far, far worse, and he is likely to be Boateng's partner in central defense.
