Sucks to see an English player leave. Pool has quite a few now and I hate to see us selling to another EPL club. Let's hope we get a striker who can score goals.

There's a reason Newcastle isn't renowned for it's cerebral contributions.

From Andy in Newcastle via text: "It's Ba's loss. He's going to a smaller club, mainly for more money, which is sad. Still, as an NUFC fan, I'm grateful for his positive contribution and wish him well."

Ditching a bit part player for 12 mill and nabbing a near league leader in scoring for 7.5? Im happy.

Would have preferred Papiss Cisse , but at Ba's price , its hard to see a better deal.

Has Ba taken a medical yet? Based on his history, this is a fairly significant hurdle is it not?

rumour that chelsea are thinking of a 24 mil bid for Higuain

    http://futbol.as.com/futbol/2013/01/02/primera/1357139558_610935.html

no idea on the legitimacy of the site. probably very little. if i'm going to live in that world though, seems a reasonable price really.

and if i really want to live in that world, Jose lets him go cause he wants him here for when he comes to manage next season :p

Ba's knees! Ba's knees! RVP is brittle! RVP is injury-prone! Ba's bad knees!

Let's just stay with the ever-dependable Torres. Who needs those others?

    indeed

allegedly everything (personal terms, contract, etc.) has been agreed but the club are waiting for the results of a couple of tests before making things official

seems they are trying to be prudent here and I can not fault them for being so

have to love this time of year

Lampard is gone- definitely and heading to Italy according to his agent...

who later denied making those comments

and then Falcao signed for Real for certain

    and now... perhaps not

That's one. Wonder if we'll be doing something to address the midfield with Mikel to the AC and Romeu out for a long while.
We'll probably have to consider Oscar for the pivot if we don't get anyone. This time last year we had a surplus of options, not saying that they were the best, but the could have helped us out big time.

Very pleased to get Ba in:) Now let's see if he is simply a rotation/supersub player or if he'll get a fair chance to win the job.

As for Oscar, it's been discussed elsewhere but his poor form has stretched from the end of the Di Matteo days to present. As someone said in the QPR thread (fern or Andy/Naughtius), I think he would be greatly helped by a more defined role and one in which he can see more of the field. He gets lost in that No. 10 role far too often. I think pairing with him Mikel, Ramires or Luiz when Lampard is rested could really help him out; get him to play a simpler game and accentuate his skills without having a free license to roam around.

Oscar doesn't have the directness of Hazard or the sheer class and creativity of Mata. He seems like the type of player who is most effective when making the difficult and dirty things look easy, while adding a bit of that Brazilian flair that we've seen in flashes.

No idea why I've typed all this in the transfer thread. Carry on with the ridiculous rumors:D
