Especially since we traded Magee for Zombie Rodgers. We do not have a proper LM.
Are you thinking LD, Keane and Zardes up top?
Sarvas and Juninho in the mid but who's the other mid?
You do know that Bruce is still the coach.
You may have heard that Bruce is a bit stubborn.
Bruce likes him some 4-4-2
Can we put this in the "Ronaldo is coming this summer!" rumor thread? It's about as likely.
I think we gotta try this. I think Jimenez is our best player we could add up top, and obviously Donovan in the hole, so we go:
Although when teams press us on the flanks, I think Zardes and Jimenez will occasionally need to track back, and it'll look more like this:
zardes - keane - LD
I think the 3rd MF depends on who we are playing but we have options that could easily be subbed without losing formation, depending on what was needed
Hey! 4-4-1-1! Now THAT Bruce will occasionally play!
Honest question, does Bruce have experience anywhere ever playing anything other then a 4-4-2 or a 4-4-1-1 ?
Can't recall seeing anything more sophisticated than that our of Bruce. (not a criticism, I love Bruce)
Closest I've ever seen is when we get disorganized and the wings collapse to a center. That's more of a center clusterF than a midfield triangle but Bruce has never been one for experimentation. I think his theory is that standard tactics work just fine when you have good ball control and passing so he spends his time improving that instead of trying new stuff out.
the point of the question was that Zardes CANNOT play LM.
1. he is a striker
2. he is not left footed
3. every one touch cross ends up on the grass berm or in someones soup in the stadium club.
We can maximize the potential of our roster or we can always have a weak link because bruce is stubborn. It's a fair question IMO
It is a fair question. But nobody should get their hopes up of it actually happening. And I say that regardless of the merits of the suggestion.
Zardes is probably not playing his natural position. But even so, he has basic things to work on, like his heavy-handed first touch, and I think the minutes are valuable. I also think he is being pressed into service because Rogers has proven to be a waste of space so far. If Rogers could carry his weight, Gyassi would be honing his craft in reserve matches. I just think it is easier to play one player out of position than it is to have the whole team learning a different system, particularly with the recent results.
I totally agree. Robbie Rogers is ruining Zardes. That's what you meant to say right?
Oh and believe me I know Bruce would never change...
Just needed something to discuss to blow off steam since my villans just got screwed at the bridge!
You just described Mike Magee except I don't about #3 because I don't recall Mike Magee ever attempting a left footed cross.
Didn't he try a 5-4-1 in the world cup? He's always willing to experiment if it means more defenders!
4. he is not mike magee!
Separate names with a comma.
