Plenty of kids played first team games and never made it, lets wait a couple of years before giving him a big status. I am aware of his skillset but how does he hold position in transition etc we need a bigger sample of first team games
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/arsenals-jack-wilshere-delighted-return-2077816 link? this aint Carling Cup early rounds.
He is unproven, plenty got carling cup games by the dozen, remember randall!? We need to wait on this kid before we annoint him
I noticed that Zelalem is the one young player that Brits don't get a massive boner over. When Wilshere was young he was the second coming, but put an American kid in the squad and all people talk about is Freddy Adu.
Zelalem isnt american, his nationality has nothibg to do with anything either way. It is so hard to make it as a central midfielder in te modern game as the position is even more demanding, he is a big talent but lets not get overboard as we have done with so many players and been dissapointed inthr past.
i haven't seen him enough to comment on his quality and potential but i thought it was interesting that zelalem seemed to have been playing as the holder alongside jon toral? i wonder if that was just where he was needed or if that is where wenger and his staff thought zelalem could potentially end up.
Just read an article on jason kreis who is spending 6 mos at citeh learning their way. The quote that stood out was how they play the same exact system all the way down to U9. Wow. Is that how AFC does it too? Do all big teams do that? So squad coaches don't get much leeway to change things up?
To be fair, Wilshere was older when we started drooling over him. Let's see how Zelalem does in the CC next season. I'm hoping he looks tidy and aware rather than someone who plays Hollywood balls.
Here's a thread from August 2009, my math puts Wilshere at 17 then. https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/jack-ing-wilshere-is-a-badass-thread-r.1122007/
I'd completely forgotten about him. I was talking more about Gerrard. See this guardian piece about Gerrard, which is quite interesting: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/mar/13/steven-gerrard-liverpool
i'm joking. i'm pretty sure the "rolling eyes" in both posts indicate that we're both being facetious. maybe you could have done the same when you said all italian players are racists...
