For all the potential problems that may occur now, I hope he was worth it. That said, I believe he'll do great. Also, I hope this is the last penny RM ever gives that scumbag Levy. I hate that guy.
91m, 99m, 100m or 150m. It's doesn't matter because it is not coming out of any of your pockets since you are being asked to chip so the finance should not worry anyone but the club, and they seem fine with it.
Agree to an extent, don't really care about the fee (got used to it) but I do care when it effects other players.. I.e Ozil seemingly being forced out.
Well the point is about opportunity cost. We don't know the exact opportunity cost because we don't know exactly how much Bale is estimated to be worth in marketing, but that doesn't rule out all criticism of his cost.
True, but the club believes he is worth quite it. Florentino placing him and Neymar just after Ronaldo and Messi. And would any of that matter if he lived up to the the expectations and delivered on the pitch?
I mean its one thing to have the pressure just to play for Real Madrid, but there is going to be many fans out there with the logic that bale was the reason Özil is gone and that puts even more pressure on bale to not only perform, but perform at a very top level and the minute he doesn't and racks up a couple games without performing at this level.... well lets just say it might get ugly. Edit*: and don't forget that price tag.
Well as also a spurs fan, i can tell you that he was called monkey boy in his first couple of seasons. Speedy monkey?flying Welshman? I do like the whole idea of the planet of the bale!
Guess I'll have to add a Bale kit to my intended shirt haul this year. Have to start recovering that transfer fee somehow. Well he's here now, so let's just sort out any final squad movements and start getting this team together.
Like the transfer. Don't like the musical chairs with the team, especially if it's Ozil. Sell Coentrao, and Di Maria if needs be, but we'll regret selling Ozil. Best wingers in the world on both sides now. But a coach who doesn't play with wingers. Not sure what to make of our long term planning BUT WE GOT BALE!!! WHOOOPDEDOOOO!!
Di Maria is a fantastic winger, and I'd have been great with keeping him and waiting on Bale, but now we've done the signing there's no need for him. We have the best wingers in the world, keeping a guy the level of Di Maria as a backup makes no sense. But selling Ozil would be bad. Isco is fantastic but Ozil is another level behind a lone striker. If he's sold, I'd really want a good explanation from Ancelotti because (aside from the cash) it's gotta be a system thing.
Completely forgot about his official announcement amidst this Oezil hoopla. Although an unnecessary signing, I wish him well.
