I always thought Great Britain was a geographical thing, eg. greater New York metropolitan area... Anyway, probably time to move on.
Not really, because Britain is the term used to describe England, Scotland Wales and the 6 Counties (which is the bit of Ireland the English lopped off and tried to claim as their own), so where does the Great bit stem from, I would wager from imperial arrogance (as Alexi Sayle commented, France is not officially known as F**king Brilliant France). But as you quite rightly state, time to move on, apologies for starting the whole thing off. Back to the football from now on.
That's about right. Distinguished the island from Britanny (now part of France). It was also the name of the United Kingdom in the 18th century before it acquired Ireland (England+Scotland+Wales only. So the entire island of Great Britain). Now the full name of the UK is "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland."
What is going on with Malaga, unpaid transfer fees, unpaid players wages and unpaid tax bills, they face the proposect of being relegated and chucked out of the Champions League qualifying stage.
More importantly .. The first tests have shown Muniesa has torn his right knee ligaments. He could be out for the whole season. [radiomarca catalunyaradio]
Yeah. We are thin at CB/DM now. Healthy: Pique, Mascherano, Bartra, Busquets Almost healthy: Puyol, Fontas That's not enough bodies to cover three positions even if you start pulling in JDS or Thiago as a DM.
I think the transfer strategy this summer is similar to the one last season, when all the eggs were put in the Fabregas basket (I was hoping we would have signed Aguero) and this time round it all seems to centre around Martinez, whom, if he is signed, will cover both central defence and midfield.
Is Owen Coyle still stating that the "Barclays Premier league is the best league in the world" in every interview that he does for the media?
Sergio Araujo (Boca Juniors striker) is in Barcelona taking his medical tests right now. It'll be interesting to watch his progression for Barca B and see if he can get some first team looks. He could be a steal of a permanent transfer at the end of his loan spell.
Wouldn't agree honestly...Muniesa wasn't truly going to provide CB cover this season for the first team...The Ajax move is out which is the real disappointment, I believe...Kid can't catch a break but I do like the way the club continues to rally around the player, injury after injury...They must see something I haven't....I like Marc and recognize he's a popular teammate & leader but I think his skills aren't suited for first team football
It is an interesting deal, we have him on loan for 1 or 2 years, with an option to buy for a reported $10M. Hopefully that mean 10M Argentine Pesos (which is about 2.2M USD), that would seem a good deal for us, but if it is 10M USD or Euros that would seem to be a crappy deal, as transfermkt estimated his value at about 1.3M Euros. Argentine pesos are typically shown with a $ sign so there is hope. Here's a story I translated from Ole: http://www.ole.com.ar/boca-juniors/futbol/acento-catalan_0_738526398.html which says 1 year loan though Wikipedia and Yahoo/Goal.com says 2 year: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergio_Araujo Araujo, who has been capped three times by his nation's Under-23s, will join fellow new 'B' arrivals Joan Angel Roman, David Lomban, Agostinho Ca and Edgar Ie.
Agree with this, maybe we could have moved Muniesa and used the money to partly pay for Javi Martinez. After negotiating the price down, of course.
El Mundo Deportivo reports that Araujo signed a two year loan deal (300K euro year one salary, 500K year two) with an option of a 6 million euro full transfer in year three. Transfermarkt is way off on that valuation if that's indeed what they have. He's been seen as one of the bright young talents in Argentine soccer for the last few years. Kun Aguero is the player he's been compared to most in Albiceleste circles. I think that's worth a 6 million chip potentially, especially when you get two years to evaluate firsthand.
