From a broken leg? He should be fine once it's fully healed. It would be much more troubling if he was coming back from some kind of ligament issue.

If anything I'd be a little more concerned about his age and ring rust. But it's a small concern.

My worry is that is was struggling with poor form BEFORE his flamin' injury !!

I believe his drop in form was largely due to not treating the injury before the actual break. He had been complaining about pain in his shins and they found micro-fissures that then led to the tibia fracture in Japan. The worst decision was having him play on L'Hospitalet's turf field in the CdR last fall.

Now, 40m euros for Javi Martinez if he accepts lower wages? That's a crazy proposal. (it's SPORT, after all.)

On one side I see Javi as a perfect addition to our team, even more now than Keita left.
But on another, 40M is just ridiculous . I trust in Rossell though, one thing he does well is getting the best deals in transfers.

40 million, I just can't see that, don't think Barca have that kind of money to spend on one player anyway.

    Yeah 40 ain't happening.

I mean, to compare (not that such direct comparison does much as the cases are different, but still): Jordi Alba killed in Euros and is considered to be a long time starter. He is 23 years old and was 14m. Javi Martinez sat on the bench in Euros and while could easily contribute long time, to begin he would not be a starter in Barca like he isn't a starter in Spain. You don't pay 40m for a non-starter def, no matter who he is. 25-30 more likely, and still very expensive. Might just keep the money and groom Fontas.

If you are going to spend 40 million euros on one player than that player needs to be a world class striker or a world class midfielder. Whilst Martinez is a very good player who may very well go on to be a world class midfielder, at the moment he's not and that is a hell of a lot of money for someone who would in essence be a sub most of the time.

I don't see Barca spending 40M on anyone nowadays.. wasn't Thiago Silva worth the same price? he's by a mile better than Javi but his price tag was unreachable that's the priomary reason why he was out of the list.

I also heard rumors of selling Affelay to Lille for 9M to get funding, I hope this is not true

I like Afellay, but to put it cruelly: we aren't exactly dependant on him, so him leaving wouldn't be that much of a shock (and I imagine he'd like to play more as well). That said, obv hope he stays.

Some rumours about us pondering to buy back Oriol Romeu with 10m. Too expensive IMO, but otherwise not a bad idea. Maybe.

Hasn't Martinez's price gone up to €50 million because of the VAT ???

Is Tello officially promoted for 2012-2013? If so, I do think one of the two will be sold or loaned. We'd have seven forwards in the first team otherwise (plus Cesc and Iniesta). Can't think of a time we've ever carried that many.

    ^ lol 50m now?

Yaya Toure cost 10m. Just saying: could do with some of that kinda business instead with all the Barca scouts all over the place.

Afellay cares about being able to brag about being on Barcelona's roster more than he cares about his playing time. I don't think he'll be trying to leave any time soon

Wouldn't be shocked if this were so but have you seen any reports on this or is it just your opinion?

Yeah, former Dutch international and current VI journalist Johan Derksen reported it as one of the disruptions within the Dutch squad
    http://www.givemefootball.com/internationals/derksen-slams-disruptive-dutch-influences
I can't find the original story on VI though

I would love for this to be false, I really liked the guy until I heard this

Doesn't sound too bad. I mean when matches go blue, tensions appear and of course journalistis and all the people slam the team when they've just performed like ****.

If Lille really are offering in the region of 9/10 million euros for Afellay then Barca should bite their arm off. He has always been on the fringes at Barca and missed virtually the whole of last season through injury, sounds like a good deal to me, if true.

As for him causing disruption in the Hollan camp, I can imagine that being true, it struck me as odd that despite him being injured for the entire season he was put into the starting line up for the Dutch at the european championships, not that was his fault, but that did strike me as odd.

According to Sport Oriol Romeu is high on Zubi's list for Keita replacement's.

I think that is one of the better options, he won't cost that much since we have a buy-back option.

Cabaye is also a new name that popped up lately.

Don't think we really need to sign a defensive midfielder, we have Busquets and the mighty Masch. But of out the 2, Cabaye is a far better player than Romeu imho.

We also have Jonathan Dos Santos in the team this year.
