    1. Messi
    2. CR
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    3. Robben
    4. Carlitos
    5. Xavi (although imo his direct contribution has somehow deteriorated, but he's the best play maker by far)

I am not sure if Neymar is better than players like Rooney, Zlatan, Eto'o, and Iniesta and Kun. If we were talking about potential he'll be up there in my list.

How can you guys even consider Neymar for this list ahead of a guy like Iniesta? He's accomplished everything for both club and country, and is entering the prime of his career.

Let's see Neymar do something in Europe before putting him on this list.

Thats just not true, im a huge soccer fan and I watch pretty much all the games from the big clubs that I can ( in the biggest leagues ) and theres no way Xavi is top 2/3 anymore, 2 years ago that was true but this season he was not that impressive by his own standards, alltho still a vital part of Barcelona.

    heres my list

    1.Messi
    2.CR
    3.Robben (when fit)
    4/5. Iniesta/Xavi

Tbh, there is only one player that actually stands out and could undisputed be called the best...

    Messi.

The rest are equally good to be ranked ahead of each other.

Of course this is just my opinion.

Cristiano Ronaldo does a good job at disputing that.

Neymar has no business anywhere near the Top 5 at the moment. Maybe in the future....who knows....we will see. For now this is the Top 5:

    1. Messi
    2. CR7
    3. Iniesta/Xavi
    5. Eto'o

That may be true. But in Europe is the highest level, since the best players play there.

In order, when fit, importancy for the team, overall talent:

    1. Messi - who can touch this little man? He is overall the better player then the rest of them. He has it all...speed, vision, agility, etc. He is a better teamplayer then Robben and Ronaldo.

    2. Robben - speedmonster who is unbeatable at one vs one. He scores bloody important goals, and on his position he is the best in the world by far. Capable of demolishing complete defences on his own...technique is great, vision is less, importancy is beyond. If he would not be injured so much, he would have given Messi a run for his money.

    3. Xavi - The little master who sees it all. What would Barcelona be without him. His play is so simple, but oh so deadly. Johan Cruyff said it best: the hardest thing in footbal is playing it simple. Xavi is making it look simple, but its oh so hard and difficult to play like him. He is a great great player.

    4. Ronaldo - Trickpony with an endproduct. He is important for Real Madrid, but he is certainly not the best in the world. He has speed, agility and also a reasonable good vision. He is not as lethal as many people think. Yes, i know, topscorer of La Liga, but still...he is missing something to be the best in the world. Maybe its his arrogance that is stopping him to grow even further. His potential is great.

    5. Sneijder - Deserving of being the best player of 2010 with a bloody good season in the Serie A, leading Inter to the tripple and leading Holland to the finals of the World Cup. His overview is, with Xavi, the best in the world. He can play as good with his right leg as his left leg. His scoring ratio is beyond good for a midfielder. He is bloody important for his team. It's a shame Real Madrid let him go for Inter Milan. I really would love to see him with Ronaldo

Just curious, why do you rate Sneijder ahead of Iniesta?

I never rated Sneijder or Iniesta in the top 5. Eto'o should be there.

Iniesta and Sneijder are similarly talented midfielders. Some seasons Iniesta i sbetter, some seasons Sneijder is.

    Season 2009/2010 Sneijder > Iniesta
    Season 2010/2011 Iniesta > Sneijder

Xavi is Batman, Iniesta is Robin. Iniesta is someone whose best attribute is his versatility, but when it comes to being the creative hub for his side, I think Xavi is the best. Snjeijder is extremely good too. Simply put, they are more important for their sides than Iniesta.

Throw your book in the trash can then.....;):D

Iniesta was injured for a good portion of the 2009/2010 season, but at the WC he played very well, especially better directly against Sneijder's Holland in the final. And before you try to counter with Barca vs Inter, you should know that Iniesta didn't play in both semi-final legs. He did play vs Inter in the two group games, where he was better than the Dutchman.

Curious what is your top 5 then? Is Messi in it?

Iniesta is as creative as Xavi and he shows that from different positions on the field. I like Sneijder too, but I think that both Iniesta and Xavi are better than him.

Xavi wasn't his usual brilliant self without Iniesta next to him for periods during the 2009/10 season and Iniesta played better than him during the whole WC.
