random thoughts: Id like to see a upgrade @ LB. Lets be honest, part of the reason Tierney starts is his set piece service(his defending abilities arent starting level), but hes really not all that good. He doesnt consistently put them in dangerous spots & they very rarely take an ideal flight path(dipping down at the last second). Yes he had a cannon of a shot in the LA game, but how many other times have you said "nice ball" when he kicks it.HellIm kinda 50-50 about upgrading CB, McCarthy does ok, and he needs to get more pt at the position, but how much will he improve? http://www.sbnation.com/soccer/2012/3/1/2835928/mls-clubs-appeal-red-cards-2012 If there was ever a situtation to use this new appeals process, Cardenas' red card is it. Moreno has done just about what I expected, Cardenas more so, Lozano less. Thank you WhiteCaps, I dont know where this team would be without Nguyen. I dont get all the people calling for Shalrie to get benched. Yes, hes not playing like a MLS-allstar, but who on the bench is an upgrade? I got more thoughts rumbling around, but I have to go to work...
Nguyen-Feilhaber-Simms-Cardenas is a better midfield then anything with Shalrie in it. Although I would prefer him at CB rather than being benched altogether
Completely agree, although I don't know who would play centrally with Simms. Feilhaber and Nguyen both appear to prefer the wing.
The article/blurb that you linked to makes no mention of the $25,000 bond that a club needed to post before the start of the season. If the Revs didn't pay up front, the conversation about the appeal process is moot.
I'm pretty sure that Benny prefers to play centrally but I could be wrong. I agree that those four make up our current best midfield and I've been a fan of the moving-Shalrie-to-CB theory until an idea struck me while watching the end of the RSL match, when he was centering the make shift 3 man back: if Shalrie remains a threat to repeatedly give the ball away while facing little to no pressure, is CB where we really want him?
Stevie Nicol Interview www.ayrunitedfc.co.uk Article even comes with a picture of him during his AUFC playing days!
A few random thoughts, ten games into the season: The Revs have now played 7 of their 9 total games against the Western Conference. The final two (SEA, CHV) are both home games. According to the MLS standings, the Revs are 5th in the East The five Eastern teams "below" us we have yet to play once, with 13 games remaining against those five: MON - 3 HOU - 2 CMB - 3 PHI - 3 TOR - 2 Still need to learn how to win on the road (1-5) but 3 wins in 4 home game, I'll take that the rest of the way In other news, did anyone see Freddy Adu get red-carded (second yellow) for diving?
I did see it... I don't understand this "someone falls in the box" and it has to be either a dive or a penalty! Players trip..players slip..or like he said, was bracing for a hit and went off balance. Pretty simple. When I saw it live, sure seemed like someone did something to make him fall..either Dax or himself with a dive. But, after the replay, clearly nobody touched him and he explained why it happened. Plus, he didn't look towards the ref for sympathy, etc. This is one that should be overturned..once the Committee reviews it.
Freddy is known to embelish. Looked like a dive all the way to me. Glad he got carded and hope to see more of that for diving. its a terrible part of the game
I totally agree...there's definitely a fine line between great acting and Steven Segal! =) And I'd err on your side. Eradicating it by punishing to the hilt those who truly abuse it. Last time I checked, a hand on my shoulder, isn't going to make me fall down..LOL In the future, and I'm not being facetious, when they've perfected sensors on every player, physics will be the Ref's instant aid to helping them make calls. "Sorry, kid...you're getting a red card because Newton's Law states for every action, there's an opposite and equal reaction. And you created both of them! tsk tsk"
I agree that diving is a terrible part of the game, but when they slowed the replay way down, it was clear he got impeded enough to have fallen down and it wasn't a dive.
He's probably as slow as Tierney but so much better at everything else that it would easily be worth it if we have cap room.
Did anybody else notice that the two big new shows NBC's touting for next season are Revolution and Chicago Fire? Weird.
George, what information is there that Shorey is damaged goods? Are you against picking up any player older than a certain age?
