By saying Theo will be fine as a FW because Chicharito can do it IS comparing him. What I meant to say was don't compare him favorably to Cheech as a FW simply because they have one trait or weakness in common. Messi and Xavi are both short and shit with their back to goal, just like Chicharito. But whatever, I didn't mean to start anything.

I just think Theo's problems stem from him not being handled in the best manner and from ridiculous expectations. People talk about him at times like he's a failure and he's 22. When Nani was 22 people moaned about him endlessly. Now he's one of the best wingers in the world.

When there is potential, you take time and ignore critics.

To be fair, Nani will be always a disappointment simply because people looked at him as a direct replacement for Ronaldo. So till this day we still see pundits and fans compare him to Ronaldo, which is really unfair. As a result, he will always have a hard time to impress.

We have a similar issue with replacing Fabregas, and whoever will or has replaced him will be scrutinized at the highest level.

You are comparing a bratty 20 year old Ronaldo to a 24 year old Nani. Not slating Nani but I just don't think it's a fair comparison.

Players mature at different times, Nani isnt even coming into his prime years yet, remember Figo Zidane and when they matured or really got to the top. Infact most players dont mature till late 20s.

    In fairness

Cronaldo was 18-19 when he came to England.

Nani was 20 or 21. They are around the same age too. Completely slanted stat.

Easily goal of the match for me.

Hard to find a better act of agile, athleticism that produced a goal.

The speed that he got back up from belly-flopping, and in the midst of that, reaching out his leg to regain the ball... astounding.

Theo's back into one of his bright runs of form. And the trio of he, RVP & Gervinio is working really well.

Neither will last forever but let's enjoy it while we got it!

As usual it's from Twitter so who knows how reliable. Would be nice to keep him though. As inconsistent as he is, he's one of the few game changers we have.

I am corect in saying there has been no credible news about Theo's status, correct?

Maybe it is "ducks on the pond" and we just don't see all of the work being done (gee, what a nice alternative to press releases) but I would hope that we sort this too in short order. If Theo and RvP were to actually resign the press can go back to slagging them off (as opposed to their joint godlike status when they look to be leaving) and the status quo is restored.

The thing with Theo is I can't imagine anyone offering him much more than we're going to pay him, and realistically only Chelsea would be able to offer him CL football.

theres talk of liverpool as he 'supports' them

but if he goes there, he won't be playing cl football

imo wenger should pl;ay him as a striker and if he doesn't work sell him....he is a limited winger and only effective vs high lines

how awful is he when he has to play the ball with quick 1-2's?
    bunkerball totally erases his game.
the flukey goals (chelsea) somewhat paper over the obvious cracks.

Theo's issue is his inconsistency. Last season, he was literally good in one game and shit in the next. I'm in two minds respecting selling him though. He is young, so he has that on his side, but if we don't get the best from him, sell him. Another thing is that the Ox has proven IMO to be a better winger, so he has stiff competition now (and from Gervinho too).

I think this coming season, Arsene should experiment with him up front. play Giroud or Podolski just behind (or Robin if he stays), and he has the advantage of his pace. In a Champions League game or even a Carling Cup match, I don't see why it would hurt.

Ronaldo was always a good player for United since he joined, but his peak was in 2007/08. Nani has been average so far.

I quite like the idea of using Theo up front. His pace can do something for sure, at least against poorer sides.

I thought the problem was his contract though...

What's the use of pace when he struggles to beat players and becomes a piece of crap when defenders gang on up him?
