TFC`s Voyageurs Cup Victory 2012 - Video Retrospective http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/05/voyageurs-cup-victory2012 A video retrospective from TFC`s 4th Consecutive defense of the Voyageurs Cup
CONCACAF No Longer Likes Underdogs http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/06/concacaf-underdogs/ Changes to the tournament and a tough draw temper TFC Champions League hopes for 2012-2013
Winter Goes - Anselmi Stays http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/06/winter-goes/ Why I feel Tom Anselmi is ultimately to blame for the mess that is Toronto FC
Mariner Starts Off With A Loss in KC http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/06/tfclosetokc/ My post game video look back at an inauspicious start for Paul Mariner with a 2-0 loss in KC, plus a TFC player who seriously disrespects himself, the club & the fans.
Three Toronto FC Players Arrested in Nightclub Altercation http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2...fc-players-arrested-in-nightclub-altercation/ Thoughts on the arrest of three TFC players in Texas and what it all might say about the culture of this team plus links to arrest documents in Houston.
TFC Don’t Lose – But They Don’t Win Either http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/06/dont-lose-dont-win/ In this post game video blog I take a look back at the 3-3 draw between Houston Dynamo and Toronto FC and try to document the full list of emotions I felt as the game swung back and forth for the two hours. I give Julian de Guzman my Man of The Match honours and I try and come to grips with the question of was this one point earned or two points lost for Toronto FC.
TFC Draw at home to New England 2-2 http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/06/disappointedagain/ In what was arguably a bigger disappointment than the draw in Houston earlier in the week the Reds blow a two goal lead in the 94th minute to drop yet more points at home on Armed Forces Day. In my post game video blog I take a look back at the disappointing draw, find some positives in the play of JdG, Koevermans, Morgan and especially Kocic and I take a look ahead to Montreal on Wednesday, a critical chance for the Reds to gain ground on Montreal. I also include some video from Armed Forces Day at BMO Field, including the memorable flyover of the two RCAF CF-18's.
Mariner Logs His 1st TFC Victory in Montreal http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/06/victory-in-montreal/ In this post game video blog I take a look back at what was perhaps Toronto’s most complete ninety minute performance of the season as the Reds defeated Montreal 3-0 at the newly renovated Stade Saputo. In this V-Blog I heap particular praise on Toronto’s midfield of Avila, Frings de Guzman and Dunfield and how their play (particularly defensively) allowed the beleaguered Toronto back line a much easier time than they arguably have had all season. I talk about how Koevermans and Johnson are starting to really click offensively and I try and temper the immediate dose of optimism that a win like this can bring with the reality check of reminding us all that the Impact are still an expansion team.
TFC vs Your Footy "First Love" http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/06/firstlove/ Thoughts on how the existence of Toronto FC makes it possible for us to see special players like Thierry Henry in the flesh... as long as he loses!
Not A Win, But Not Bad. TFC 1 – NYRB1 http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/07/tfc-1-nyrb1/ The Red Bulls came to town, scored withing the first five minutes yet they did not leave Toronto with three points. It was not great, but it was not bad either. Toronto FC drew NYRB 1-1 in a competitive, if yet than than thrilling draw at BMO Field on Saturday. In this video blog I try and put the relative progress the club is seeing in recent results under Paul Mariner in some sort of context, I heap more praise on the revamped TFC midfield and Danny Koevermans an his recent goal a game scoring pace is put into some MLS wide perspective. I also try and shed some light on what is happening with Joao Plata and his impending transfer back to Ecuador.
TFC Getting Competitive On The Road http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/07/tfc-getting-competitive/ In this post game video blog I take a look back at the game in Dallas Wednesday evening that saw Toronto FC get a well deserved point away from home in a hard fought 1-1 draw. Also I put TFC's recent relative road success into a MLS wide perspective, I pose the question on if the trigger should have been pulled on the coaching change earlier than it was, I ask if there is fire in the Front Office from the smoke billowing from the Plata and Nesta situations, I make two pleas for help from TFC fans and I give the club some well deserved props on Champions League ticketing.
TFC Back To Losing Ways On The Road http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/07/losing-ways/ When you are playing the same starting eleven game after game on three days rest this is what happens as TFC loses 3-0 to Philly In this video look back at the game I talk about the likely end of the Richard Eckersley at Centre Back experiment, how the brutal two games a week schedule is exposing for all to see the true lack of depth on this team and I address the increasing apathy that we are starting to see in the support around this team.
Julian de Guzman Leaves TFC http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/07/jdg-gone/ Julian de Guzman leaves Toronto FC. A look back at his disappointing tenure in Toronto.
TFC Defeat Colorado - Three On The Hop http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/?p=2591 A video look back at another good night at BMO Field that saw Toronto defeat the Colorado Rapids 2-1 on Wednesday evening to match their all time winning streak in MLS play at three games.
TFC Makes A Statement Of Intent In Acquiring Hassli http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/07/hassli/ A look at what the recent acquisition of Vancouver striker Eric Hassli is a strong signal from TFC that they are serious about competing for the rest of the 2012 campaign.
Lacklustre Home Loss – TFC 0 – Dynamo 2 http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/07/lacklustre/ Some brief video thoughts on a lacklustre display Saturday past by Toronto FC at home versus Houston Dynamo that saw TFC go down to defeat 2-nil at home. I also address the recent controversy surrounding TFC Front Office staffer Earl Cochrane and take a look ahead to the possible debut of Eric Hassli on Champions League night this coming Wednesday.
5 Goals & 5342 Reasons To Worry for TFC http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/08/5-3-4-2/ Post game video thoughts after TFC's Emphatic 5-1 victory in the CONCACAF Champions League at BMO Field and what the low attendance might mean for the future of the club
O'Dea Signs with TFC - Not Mellberg But Not Bad http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/08/odea/ Darren O'Dea signs for Toronto FC. I take a look at his signing plus explain why I think it was how Julian De Guzman left Toronto that meant that it was O'Dea and not Olaf Mellberg that joined the Reds...not that this was necessarily a bad thing.
Not sure where to post this, but it's worth a look. Frings doing a community thing at Union Station...except no one recognizes him:
That is too depressing. --------- Mariner says TFC are three players away.........from being half decent. http://www.sportsnet.ca/590/2012/08...o_fc_paul_mariner_with_greg_brady_eric_smith/
Hassli & The Wooden Spoon Derby http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/08/hassli-the-wooden-spoon-derby/ Post game video thoughts on TFC's 2-2 draw Wednesday evening versus Portland at BMO Field. I also take a look in detail as to what Hassli brings to the team other than just an ability to pot goals and I also ponder how Paul Mariner might set up the defense Saturday vs Kansas City now that Darren O'Dea is available for selection.
It's O'Dea Not O'Dea http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/08/its-odea-not-odea/ Thoughts on the latest disappointment from Toronto FC as the Reds are outclassed and outscored 1-0 by Sporting Kansas City at BMO Field on Saturday. In this vid I take a look at the play of a dead tired Torsten Frings, I explain the proper pronunciation of the name of our new Irish centre back & I take another look at thedefensive structure of the side ahead of the Columbus match on Wednesday.
#TFCPriceFreeze2013 http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2012/08/tfcpricefreeze2013/ In this post game video I take a quick look back at the abject road loss that saw Toronto drop three more points on the road, this time in Columbus on Wednesday evening. I also take a personal look at the increasing level of apathy and resignation among the hard core support for this team, I take a quick look ahead to the last meaningful home game of the season, I come out in DEFENSE of Paul Mariner and I ask Toronto FC if its time to announce a 2013 price freeze.
