What does this have to do with the Senate?

    It's all Joe Lieberman's fault.

    Cousins.

The Kennedy brothers come immediately to mind, but that was in the early 60s.

Gordon Smith of Oregon is related to them too, but he might lose.

Too bad for John Sununu. He seems like an extremely smart guy.

Gordon Smith [R] is a second cousin of the Udall's. Mo Udall's book Too Funny to be President is a great read, if you can find it.
I looked at the "Check out this guy" video from Revolt's link. Um, wow.

I actually just met Ronnie Musgrove in a little dive soul food restaurant in Jackson MS last Friday (do they call it "soul food" in the South, or just "food?" ;))

He seemed like a very nice guy. When he learned that me and my wife were from Chicago, he could have cut it short and moved on to actual Mississippi voters, but he was very cool and talked to us about both Chicago and Mississippi for a while.

I don't know much about him but a good first impression . . . and a great fried pork chop with black eyed peas, cream corn and fried okra. :D

My mother lives in Mississippi, and I'm here visiting right now. Musgrove is very friendly, though, like most major politicians in Mississippi, corrupt and disturbingly connected to other state lawmakers (actually he and Wicker, his oponent, were roommates for a year in College.) Also he has a rather ridiculous accent even for Mississippi.

On policy; Musgrove is a social conservative; Economically more in line with democrats.

He likes to distance himself from many of the more "liberal" national democrats. He took a bit of a risk giving Obama a public endorsement; though part of it is Musgrove enjoys great popularity among the black population, and if the pre-election polls stay close going into election day; an enthusiastic turnout of black voters could well be the difference.

also this is a pretty ugly election, and heavilly advertised one, Wicker particuarly has some rather offensive ads.

Living in MA, we are being inundated with Sununu and Shaheen commercials since the Boston stations blanket most of southern NH.

Both are trying to tie the other to Bush. :D

Libby Dole has never held a job outside political appointments or her election to the Senate. Kay Hagan is about to drink her milkshake, and Libby's getting desperate.

I am no fan of Dole, but didn't she serve (poorly) as the head of the American Red Cross?

Those religious people are always picking on us atheists. If only they had some sort of moral code that would make them more accepting and loving of their neighbors ...

I am hoping for a 55 - 45 Dem lead, but not more than that.
