My two kids arrived home from school safely from early dismissal. My wife should be home in about an hour. No rain or wind yet here.
Though I'm working from home today, as are everyone else in the office, it seems. I figure I'll work on my home computer until we lose power, and then on my phone until the we lose cellular signals. The biggest impact so far has been from the public schools being closed for today and tomorrow. No idea how we're going to keep them occupied. Also, I'm sure the Bible mentioned something about a shirtless horse jogging through the streets: Liberals and their official times. I mean, hey, awesome. The cooler conditions must have been nice.
Congrats on the marathon. I believe if you run that through the Paul Ryan Marathon Time Adjustor, you might qualify for the Kenyan Olympic team. Edit: Nope, but depending on your age, you may have qualified for Boston http://www.paulryantimecalculator.com/?submitted=yes&time=4:02:14&distance=marathon&gender=m So far, no real rain here. Wind is picking up though. Quite a lot is closed down. When I saw the radar this morning, I decided to do my usual 2.5 mile walk to the friendly local coffeehouse downtown, and I'm heading back right about now. Accuweather's radar says I'm going to get soaked. But they said I should've been wet on the hoof downtown. Wunderground has be catching a few wind-driven sprinkles. Everyone has the wind gusts kicking up around one or two, peaking out between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. at around 60 MPH. I suspect we'll lose electricity if it gets that gusty.
Guy rolls into Oklahoma following a tornado, standing in the middle of an obliterated building and starts screaming at clean up workers about "being in his shot".
New Jersey Public Safety Officials have just placed Governor Christie on the shore's stormwall to deflect water and to yell at Sandy until she retreats out to sea.
if any dams are in danger of failing as a result of the excessive rain, they can also use the Governor to plug a pretty sizable hole.
For my fellow west coasters who are feeling left out, here's a webcam based on Staten Island which is looking out at New York harbor: http://www.nyharborwebcam.com/
I think a lot of webcams are shutting down now. I can't get to the Jersey Shore and Virginia Beach cams I'd watched earlier.
okay east coasters, it's time to play stupid. everyone grab your video recording device and head for the heart of the storm, pretending you're a real weatherman!
You are not completely stupid until you actually start praying to God on the video yelling for the storm to go around you.
