Ooooo nice. :) Can we take our time and collect your tears now while you think about the past? I've got a bucket ready but by the looks of your post, I may need something bigger.

Yeah, I think you are right. Fans of the italian national team will be like liverpool - living in the past. Their team right now is not too bad though but I can't see them winning the euro '12 or the world cup '14. They have a big population (of 60 million people) and football is the number one sport so no matter how bad the youth system is they will still produce a few good players. The national coach Prandelli praised Germany for the excellent work on youth development and also said that Italy have made a big progress in that aspect in the last 2 years but if it is really true, it will show in about 7-8 years, not now.

Made for some entertaining reading this morning, shame it was closed.

Nothing like some good old fashion bigotry to get your week started out right.

Give me a f*cking break, we played a game at Westfallenstadion just a couple of days ago. Bernabeu is great but if we lose it's not because of the stadium, it'll be because we suck away from home.

I'll open the thread again ahead of the game tomorrow. Nobody wants to read a match thread where half of its content appears like a history class debate.

What's more is that it's a discourse on German history. I come here to get away from my trials and tribulations, not talk about trials and tribulations :p Not all of us who come here care all that much about Germany, I just want to talk about Bayern.

Can we open it after the Barca-Chelsea match tonight? I promise I won't bring up my grandfather's love affairs with Pilar in Spain in the late 30's...

People are acting as if this is the first time FC Bayern have ever played at the Bernabeu.

Or like we haven't played at other big venues before.

I don't mind a bit of history here and there but its obviously a sensitive topic and some people can't seem to help themselves and it just snowballs into a giant mess.

If you promise to behave then yes. :D

Not really. They have 3 enormously talented midfielders, 2 strikers, a winger who can score for fun, 3 holding midfielders and 7 defenders. They don't need Lass because he's a destroyer, hasn't played much all season and cant do anything more than what khedira or even granero can do.

Dude, Khedira is not a defensive midfielder like Diarra and Gustavo, they shouldn't be compared.

He is becoming one under Mourinho, just like he did with Ballack at Chelsea.

What the hell happened to Carvalho ? He used to play in the beginning of the season and then got a back injury and since then even when he is fit, Mourinho does not play him at all. I must have missed something.

He's one step ahead of Lass in the sense that he not only breaks up play but connects midfield to attack pretty well.
