Okay so I will put my post here instead of the older one :

When is a German player going to win the Ballon d'Or again ?
I believe Sammer was the last one in 1996.
Messi is probably going to win the award for another 4 years. When he gets to 30, a German player might have a chance.
Or maybe when Germany wins the world cup in 2014, Goetze or Oezil will take the award.Or will Hummels do a Cannavaro ?
Other players who might have a chance in the future are Reus, Draxler, Gnabry, Yesil and Meyer.

Plus there's a lot of circle jerk in today's football over Ronaldo and messi..

Ronaldo is 27. He will probably stop being awesome around 2016.

Well its all deserved though isn't it? It's hard to argue that anyone comes close to these guys now so its not like there are some controversial decisions made. We just live in the Messi/Ronaldo/Barca/Spain era. That will end eventually and then others will get their turn.

Ronaldo is overrated. He's probably the most talented player in the world but I'd take Messi,Iniesta,Xavi, Ribery,Falcao etc any day over him. Ibra is similar

Context is current media coverage and support. Still an all timer.

Realistically there is the chance to become world footballer every 4 years with the world cup. If you dominate a tournament like Kahn, Ronaldo (the Brazilian) or Zidane did then you've got a pretty good chance.

Otherwise it's probably 3 times Lionel Messi *yawn*

Portugal aren't a team that can seriously compete at the World Cup. They are hot and cold as the wind blows and aren't complete. Their team is centered around someone like Ronaldo..

Messi as great as he is can't carry the team by himself. They have great attacking power, but their defense is pure shit. They will never win anything either...

Did you guys watch the second Schalke goal by Marica? Sweetly struck bicycle kick.

5-7 from 4-0 down. Arsenal, take a bow for the comeback!

They're both the best, by a long shot. For me, Ozil, Gotze and Reus are all potential takers at some point. Just not anytime within the next 2 years.

Messi is about to break Pele and Muller's record number of goals in a single year, he's taking everything apart this guy.

Fantastic comeback, then again - that was a horrible lineup. Just dreadful, Arsenal need a new striker in the winter break.

I think Argentina can change everything, defensively their improvements are huge btw. Contrast them with 2010, where Cambiasso, one of the best DMF's at the time, was left out.

Whats their to yawn about? His every game is a stroke of genius. The dude is beyond talent, he's breaking all kinds of records set by the very best. I think Ronaldo can take it, but we'll see.

More like 2015 when he begins to lose some of that pace.

I wouldn't take falcao. And ibrahimovic is a great league player, hasn't done anything in the CL or international stage.

Messi/CR7 in a league with more parity.....one has to wonder.

I'm not going to argue this though...its always the usual suspects...

Argentina's defence in 86 was pure shit either, but Maradona kicked everybody's ass all the way to the title
