Shame too because they got screwed over, they're a decent side.

As for Mainz, I think this is a blessing in disguise for them.

I currently wear my Thomas Strunz (or "Stronzo" like Trappatoni called him) costume and say Mainz gets relegated, because they lost today, and Bayern is already champion. ;)

( And if Mainz wins at the weekend I wear my Basler costume and say they repeat the performance from last year. :D )

Atleast 96 are bound to do better. Plus S04 generally do well in Europe.

Who have me worried though are BVB. If I'm not mistaken they are in pot 4, which might get them a really messy group.

The problem is they won't be seeded and are likely to face a strong opponent (Sevilla, Roma, Tottenham etc.).

Spurs will most likely use youth players, Sevilla are doable with some luck.

Not good from Mainz...I really think Dortmund is going to meet a similar fate in the Champions League groups - can anyone convince me otherwise....please...I hope???? Can/will Dortmund get through????

They'll either fail miserably or be the dark horses of the tournament.

I think they'l get out of the group, maybe the quarters, would be a successful campaign in that case.

Dortmund could be in 3 or 4, depending on who makes it through the qualification.

Leverkusen could be in 2 or 3.

If Bayern qualify we could potentially be in a group consisting of Bayern, Zenit/CSKA/Shaktar, Man City, and Napoli. Talk about group of death.

They will be in 3rd if Kobenhaven and Bate Borisov don't make it through the playoff.

Leverkusen will be in 3rd unless 3 of Bayern, Lyon, Arsenal, Villarreal, Benfica don't qualify.

The seeding is based on the club performances of the last 5 years in Europe. Thus clubs who rarely qualified are badly seeded.

That system indeed does not reflect club strengths well. A better measure could be a combination of smoothed points reached by the leagues performances in Europe (benefits the points gained in the recent past and decrease the influence of old results) and points the club gains for a good finish or a cup win in the last season. But that would probably be too much for the UEFA and it would steal the current advantage from leagues that send almost every season the same clubs to Europe.

Dortmund deserve second pot at least, i know how that system works and it's stupid when you look the third pot teams, teams that would get their as**s kicked by Dortmund anyday. And besides it's quite emberassing for the league.

Personally, I am hoping that all 3 teams get piss easy groups, the 3 easiest of them all if possible.

i would love to see dortmund get far in the CL....i think they are capable of making at least a quarterfinal (if klopp motivates them to the max, which he probably will)....I think last year they sadly underestimated their europa league opposition.....i doubt they will make the same mistake.

    bayern v dortmund final :)
