Diego Forlán to the Fire and from Viana. “@AgustinViana: “@JoseFCuartas: @AgustinViana @ColumbusCrew it's confirmed via ESPN DEPORTES Jorge Ramos y su banda”
“@EricGomezFOX: Cruz Azul not done raiding @MLS talent yet. I'm told, "well known South American star" on their radar.” “@EricGomezFOX: Told that this direct fallout from Camilo and that team will try to sign player "as if he's a free agent" by Jan 31” God help me If they are going after Higuain, thanks Canada.
Hmm. Queretaro agreed that Camilo's contract with the unilateral club option was valid so they paid a transfer fee and "apologized". FIFA frowns on club-only options but I don't see how Cruz Azul would have a better case for an MLS player than Queretaro did. The FMF can probably forget about playing friendlies in the US if Liga MX starts raiding MLS.
I wish I were as artistically savvy as many folks here so I could work in a photo of D-Generation X telling the Fire to "Suck It"!! Any takers?
Along with NYCFC, Man City has bought 80% of the Melbourne Heart in the A-League http://www.football365.com/news/21554/9128923/Man-CIty-Buy-80-Share-In-Melbourne-Heart
Edu to Phily a done deal. Reportedly signed for less than half the $1.5 million he was demanding. Archer laughing his ass off.
MLS Defender of the Year and Best XI center back José Gonçalves says the Revolution have made him feel expendable and wants to return to Europe.
Wow. Either he's a whiney bitch, or the Revs haven't completely changed their stripes. Losing that guy though would be a bad thing for them.
Dunno about that. If he actually has a chance at the Portugese WC team, it would no doubt be improved if he's in Europe facing higher quality opposition. He'd likely also get paid more there too.
http://www.lagconfidential.com/2014...ill-field-usl-pro-team-2014-first-games-march First team to form their own USL team; it'll be interesting to see how this goes.
From the article:"Galaxy's USL Pro team, 1st of its kind, likely to be coached by LA asst Curt Onalfo, who turned down offer to be head coach at Chivas USA." I thought the Browns front office was a joke.
Based on the Wiet precedent I guess LA could stash some homegrowns with the USL side. Is there a salary cap in USL?
Either that or he didn't want to be a guy that was appointed for them to avoid the racism tag that has been properly applied to their front office.
So Philly gets Edu http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...aurice-edu-designated-player-one-year-loan-st But this is lame On the other hand that moves us to third; second after the Pappa thing gets settled maybe we'll actually get to use it this season.
If I were AP I would bee looking at the USL route as a way to compete with the bigger markets. Unlikely we are ever going to be able to outspend the larger teams but no reason we can't out develop them.
