I'm tired of reading all of the doom and gloom after 3 games of United integrated a bunch of new players. We all know that without a fluke run, this isn't an MLS Cup winning team but there's still like 30 games left for DC to get into a moderate form, win some games, and actually make the playoffs.

Is it sad that what used to be a guarantee is now deemed an acceptable season? Sure, but that's not what this thread is about. Post something that excites you about United's 2012 season. Maybe its realizing that Boskovic and Pontius are coming off of major injuries and will do better. Maybe it's the U-23s bombing out of Olympic qualifying so Kitchen and Hamid will be around this Summer. It could be simply the fact that people voted to public office in the District of Columbia are actually mentioning the word "stadium" with "DC United" and "impossible", "never", and "stupid idea" haven't worked their way into those sentences.

For me, it's that Kasper & Co. are finally getting it done in the draft. After all, through 3 games rookies account for 100% of United's goal scoring.

The team cut down on some travel miles by combining the LA and Vancouver visits into one round-trip flight to the west coast.

5 of the next 6 league games are at home.

I am still optimistic that a midfield featuring a motivated DeRo, a Najar who's learned to make smarter passes, and fit/in-form Pontius & Boskovic will be able to provide quality support to Salihi and whomever he's paired with.

Dudar and Saragosa have impressed. Our backup keeper is just about as good as our starter. And after a lackluster start, the team looked motivated and willing to fight in Vancouver.

I was encouraged by the second half of the Vancouver game. IF DC can keep playing at that level of quality, and intensity, the wins will come.

I am also encouraged that even though Bill Hamid may be sidelined for a while (after his not-early-enough exit from the U-23 game, I have absolutely no clue as to how long), it appears that Joe Willis can do a good job.

Well I just moved back to md from San Antonio (bit shy of 3 long freaking years) this week. So I'm happy I get to catch some games again. :). I can't wait to go to rfk. Since I'm back we most obviously have to start winning again. Dcu have had some touch years while ive been gone. So we are due a good year.

On a more serious note... I figured we would start slow with all the new pieces, but by mid season we should be in good shape. This is the new mls, one in which u can't just add a bunch of good pieces and puff u have a good team. Quality in this league is too good now for that to happen. you have to have time for chemistry to develop and all that..

I predict a fun team to watch that will be competitive against the very best teams, but that will have growing pains. Overall quality won't allow us to get very far in the playoffs but I think depending of where we end up we will be a dangerous squad to match up against.

Beer has alcohol in it so it sterilizes the nozzles. Shot they don't ever have to clean those out. Well maybe the light beer ones. Those are piss water anyway.

man, you guys want to ruin all the character of RFK concessions - what's next - should they put in ovens that cook evenly in the Ledo pizza place?

I did not look for the vodka and lemonade stand last game, I look forward to finding it on Friday. Hopefully it's still close to my seats, but since I didn't drink any last game, I must not have walked past it. But I'm optimistic it's still in there somewhere!

I am optimistic still about this team. As long as they aren't playing, it's easy to stay that way ;)
Our movement looks pretty good - once our passing improves, it should actually look impressive.

It's good that the sun is shining. That'll help you see the falling blue sky.

Speaking of which, has anything been said about Hamid's status after last night's injury?

Rainbows... Do you mean like this? [IMG]

We're all out of that in this league.

Unfortunately we've got some of this...

I'm optimistic about online privacy knowing that the marketing department has finally figured out a way to hack into Th4119's account and put up posts that sound like farts but smell like flowers. :D

Seriously, the sky isn't falling, but after the last two years who wouldn't be a bit traumatized?

Who's doing what in the draft, or whether Hamid and Kitchen will be back (if they play like they did in the U23s, hard to see how that helps), or the pre-indictment tweets of a Council Member that have recently discovered we exist -- this is baby optimism.

I'm optimistic that we'll soon be mercilessly crushing opponents -- especially at home -- building up an insurmountable lead such that other teams expect to lose when they step off the plane (or bus, if they're Philly or donkey if they're Jersey).

I'm optimistic that the stands will rock, the roof won't fall in, that we'll get the breaks we need and not one player will get a concussion/hernia/hamstring injury (pick one).

I'm optimistic that the team will show guts, and grit and skill, turning in a performance so strong that come the end of the season the only question on anyone's mind is whether or not we'll make the Cup finals... not if we might somehow squeak into the playoffs.

    Let's see some real optimism.
