Hopefully he doesn't feel too pressured to blow our minds right off the bat, it would be nice to see some simple, solid play (you know, the kind neither Cato nor Harris is capable of).
Merky said he will fill he will fill Dawkins slashing role but not sure if he can pull it off or not. It took Simon 1 year to get acclimated to the Quakes and/or MLS system and he had a dynamic 2012 season but 2011 he seemed lost. I hope it won't take this guy that long.
IMO Dawkins looked good from the get-go and had 6 goals and 2 assists in 2011, in about 2/3 of a full season worth of minutes. He was about equally productive in 2012. The guys who are going to be good, you can usually tell right away. With Hucks, same thing - you could tell right away. Jaime Alas, it was like, meh, he's young, maybe it'll get better, but it never really happened for him.
I don't know. I saw that Dawkins had good skills in 2011 but either because the rest of the Quakes sucked or Lenny left , couple with some injuries, he seemed to fade at the end. In 2012 though he contributed a great deal and was an asset to the club.
If San Jose was a good drinking city I could see a really good promotion like Jello shots with Yannick Djalo. Savannah would have some crazy sh!t like that, they love drinking here.

Dude, you're three weeks behind. https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/...ick-djaló-thread.2001735/page-3#post-29720956
"With offense struggling, San Jose Earthquakes waiting for full contribution from Yannick Djalo" (MLSsoccer.com - Friday, 4/11/14) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Let's face it, he's not going to play a lot of defense, but I like this guy. Hair sticking up and out all over the place, wants to drop the last 2 letters of his 5-letter last name, jumping into Wondo's arms like they'd just won World Cup after Wondo's goal, dropping the ball out into space and outrunning guys, the sombrero, cracking shots, he's got skill and style. It looks like he has fun playing. And this... My mentality was, I needed to change completely the game when I came in,” Djalo said. “I’m trying to help the team score goals and make opportunities happen on the field. As the opportunities arise, whatever needs to be done, I try do in that moment to help the team score goals.” That's what I want to hear. He needs to try to have an attitude that he can completely change the game when he's playing. I want him watching the game thinking "'Heck with this, just give me the damn ball".
One thing I noticed about him was that in his first 20 minutes on the field he stretched the field when he didn't have the ball. He was open a lot of the time. After he realized no one on our team can switch the play as opposed to swinging the ball, casing the defense to shift slowly. He started coming in more getting sucked into the bunch. I think he and wondo switched positions for a while towards the end. I'm fine with that. I'd rather have someone creative in the center of the field who can carry the ball.
Wait a minute. New Quakes player opts to forego a corner kick. Picks up ball on wing and shoots rather than crossing. The bench awaits you my friend.
I'll take too many touches at this point if it means he has some technical ability to beat people and can shoot. He's going to lose the ball a lot, but Dawkins did too, and he was a very effective player for the team.

welllll hows about we start him if he is the potential solution. the only MLS quality wings we have are Salinas and Djalo. sooooo transitive law we start Harris. seems legit.
