http://www.sjearthquakes.com/news/2014/03/quakes-acquire-portuguese-winger-djalo-loan And now I'd like to take the opportunity to re-post this: + = his new nickname: Yanni Django
wish he could get here before Saturday's home opener, but I'm guessing that's very unlikely….not sure how far along/or if the paper work has started...
"Quakes acquire Portuguese winger Djalo on loan" (SJEarthquakes.com - Monday, 3/10/14) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
As fit as he is (being in mid season form) it'll probably be a while till he sees the field. Maybe not . . . Yallop liked to throw new signings on right away, we'll see what Watson does.
Yup, this means when the Quakes rehabilitate and turn him into a force again, he'll be too expensive for us to buy outright. Bummer, but at least I'll enjoy the ride while it lasts. Welcome to San Jose, Yannick. I hope the Portuguese population of Santa Clara rallies behind you and the Quakes.
I'm a supporter of Djaló's first club in Portugal where he played many years - Sporting CP. Just letting you know he's among the worst players I've ever seen on a professional level. He can score here and there but he has the absolute worst decisions on the pitch you may see. Don't expect much.
Good signing , though hopefully he'll still be here when the San Jose Earthquakes start playing in The Epicenter next season. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Haha, yeah that took all of 20 minutes. Paging Debbie Downer. His highlights look better than most of our players' sooo it's a start.
Well, not meaning to ruin your signing, but don't get too carried away with his youtube videos and skills. He may still perform decently at the MLS though.
well it's something and that's kinda better than nothing (not including harris) so let's hope he starts opposite shea while tt/jbp man the center of the midfield!
Jalo.... Also I believe his contract expires in 2015 meaning in January 2015 if all goes well here the Quakes can make him an offer to get him for free in July 2015. Given his track record as being a bit unpredictable and inconsistent, I agree with terms of this deal. Edit: Scratch that. It's 2016. So if he works out I find it hard to see this ownership buying a player.
