Yeah, he is pretty fast. He outpaced Messi. All this at age 19. The best thing is that he is modest and has his head in the right place. If he progresses like this he will be the best in the world in a a couple of years.
I personally hope we keep handling him the way we have, seems to be working a charm so far. Kid stepped up, props.
What a performance yesterday, arguably the biggest game in the world and he passed it easily with flying colours.
Mourinho and the coaching staff have done a good job getting him integrated. The club has also resisted the easy decision of loaning him out, which I think has worked out for the best. And as good as he looked yesterday, the kid is 19 years old. He'll make mistakes, and he'll learn from them. But he's going to be around for a long, long time.
When he was turned inside out by Llorente, the same people that claim "he's only 19" jumped up and said that "he's been really good, i don't see your problem". He's good enough. If he's going to make mistakes, we might as well find out and let him work on them before he's 26 and we suddenly find them out one by one on the pitch. I'd place him into a regular rotation with the starters.
I don't know if he can deal with all the pressure and hype. I wish he continues to develop and never gets injured because its rare to find CB with potential like his, and I hope he get selected for the 2014 World Cup which will give him more experience.
Seriously? The guy just was dominant in a pressure/hype filled match just yesterday and has played at a good level for some time now.
I think Jose is well aware of how good Varane is, and he knows if he needs protection from the hype/pressure/media ...etc. I just think that deserves a little more minutes, especially with Pepe out for 2 more weeks I guess. Next year, Varane must be a regular starter IMO.
So he should get called up. He deserves it. I guarantee that it wont be just from last nights performance, but for his season so far. He has been Madrid's best defender for a short while now. Good luck to the guy.
Varane Varane Varane physical strength, technical skills, speed .. he owned the midget a couple times and he is 19 years (!) old. Extend his contract Flo
One of the things that were highlighted about him in France was how mature he is for his age. He's got a good head on his shoulders (barring those dreads he used to have). Zizou mentioned it as well when he was signed. Kay Murray, who used to work for RMTV (now at BeIn) tweeted yesterday how when Rafa was signed and they all went to CA for the preseason, she was worried about him, he looked lost among all the superstars and the hype and she wondered if he would be able to cope with Real Madrid life but then she saw him at the first training session and he was fearless on the pitch. I don't worry about this kid at all. He'll be fine as long as he keeps his head.
Kay Murray makes it sound like he came out of one of those japanese cartoons about soccer lol. Is she the one with the bukakke forehead?
what is interesting about Varane, how fast he is.. when he is 1.90 cm. is just amazing. He's like Pepe, strong, fast, but with braines.
Breath of fresh air compared to Pepe (2,105,000 in 1,260 minutes) and Ramos (2,455,000 in 1,500 minutes)
