Re: The Official Simon Dawkins thread Yes, he's a Brit. Place of birth, Edgware, England. Edgware is just south of Tupperware.
Re: The Official Simon Dawkins thread I hope so! I have been waiting to see the New York Cosmos for the last 30 years!

Re: The Official Simon Dawkins thread Injury/Discipline/International Duty Report Out: Andre Luiz (L – knee injury); Doubtful: Simon Dawkins (R/L – Lower leg compartment syndrome), Tim Ward (R – hamstring strain); Probable: Joey Gjertsen (R – groin strain), Scott Sealy (R – hamstring strain). http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001224.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compartment_syndrome
Re: The Official Simon Dawkins thread It was also odd to see his injury listed as "R/L" since you usually see only one leg or the other as hurt in most injury reports. The fact that he is "doubtful" would appear to mean they caught it early enough to avoid what you see in FUAEG's photo; but the only two treatments are rest or surgery according to the articles I listed. It just seems like a very unusual injury report.
Re: The Official Simon Dawkins thread Yeah, that's a life threatening emergency. WTF are they talking about? Is he in the hospital fighting for his life or hanging out with Lenhart in Santa Cruz?
Re: The Official Simon Dawkins thread Life threatening? Limb Threating more likely. He has probably had all the early diagnostics done due to symptoms described, they've made a diagnosis and is no where near needing a procedure like that photo shows.
Re: The Official Simon Dawkins thread He's a professional athlete, he has more people watching his leg than SJC has in its control tower watching planes come in. OTOH, I can see the life threatening situation with a biker dude who lets the Harley drop on his bud's calf because both of them had too many brews might end up with a dead pal because of renal failure, two days later, 'cause they lost the keys and the phone service was cut off...

Re: The Official Simon Dawkins thread Quakes cornering the market on weird injuries - this one in addition to Brad Ring's hip dysplasia thing, more commonly seen in German shepherds.
Re: The Official Simon Dawkins thread Coming off last year, with a good defense and keeper, a rejuvenated Convey, and Wondo's breakout year, it seemed that a good target forward and a skillful CM would help the team at least maintain the pace and more likely improve. Lenhart and Dawkins were signed which should have helped the team almost right out of the starting gate. Then Lenhart ends up missing the first quarter of the season and now Dawkins might miss half of it. Last place a quarter of the way through the season is a serious condition, but not beyond redemption. Being near the bottom at the midpoint of the year would be a critical situation.
Re: The Official Simon Dawkins thread This is one of those things where if the team can do well enough while Dawkins is away, and maybe some other players like Amp step up and the team grows a bit, when Dawkins comes back it would be a nice boost and might help them make a run. BTW, my understanding of Dawkins's condition is that the tissue surrounding his muscle was unable to contain the size of the muscle in his calf. (Can't say that I've had that problem!) Almost sounds like something that could happen to a 'roid user, but I doubt that Dawkins would use 'roids. Edit: I see that 'roid use could possibly be a cause, but there are a bunch of other potential causes - bad bruise, overly-constricting bandage, poor circulation, etc.
Re: The Official Simon Dawkins thread You mean, "bad" luck. You'll get an infraction like I just did for cussing.
Re: The Official Simon Dawkins thread Wow, really? but I did get an infraction, at least that's what it says. It says I "Abused/Flamed Users"
Re: The Official Simon Dawkins thread According to the Quakes article, Dawkins has had injuries in previous seasons. I wish him well & hope he has a full recovery. My main gripe is who the hell in the FO is checking out these players before they are signed to play for the Quakes?? I can't believe we have another injured player. This isn't bad luck. This is stupidity on Doyle's part. Not to mention, now Yallop has an excuse why the Quakes are playing bad & may have a poor season. I have not been one to really want Doyle & Yallop to go, but after reading about Dawkins, I scream for them to be replaced. I think that if the Quakes continue to play poorly & end up at the bottom, Kaval should give out pins that state, "I survived the stench of 2011".
